these lists are always filled with people who rarely play anymore. who are the best players currently active?

kicorse would appear to be up there. i'm not very familiar with him but he's sitting at the top of the 1v1. 2v2 and 3v3 ladders lol. that would seem to imply some skill...

i don't think buns should make the list, his skills have not kept up with the times, he'd be lucky to crack the top 10 in the ladder today and he knows it. which is why he doesn't play.

Kerékgyártó Zoltán gets the award for consistently toughest against me personally but i don't know how he stacks up against others.

i like Thagomizer's style, robo-playing 5 at a time and hanging around in the top 10 of the 1v1 ladder, including picking up a 1st place trophy. we'll see if he has any staying power.

Your view is directed solely on the 1vs1 2vs2 and 3vs3 ladder. I'm way more scared of buns than i'd be against any of the people you mentioned. Saying buns wouldn't crack top 10 is either a provocation to make people talk here or a joke

i think its a joke,as it is evidently wrong...... but since it is evidently wrong that also makes the joke an unsuccessful one. The same really if it is a provocation since an absurd provocation very rarely works..... so the post is very disappointing really

The 1v1 ladder doesn't look particularly strong right now. I am confident I could join and get top 4 right now and Buns is FAR better than I am.

Buns won the seasonal ladder 3 days ago, Of course he plays regularly. He's in my mind and others the best 1v1 ladder 0% SR player as he managed to "dominate" the 1v1 ladder even with its rating flaws.

Regarding the 2v2 and 3v3 ladder, They are weak and aren't worth considering for any top 5 players criteria. The value of Kicorse should be on the 1v1 ladder mainly, though I don't value stallers in top 5 as sportsmanship should be a factor too.

If I had to pick my top 5 in my mind at the moment: (not in order of skill)

1. master of desaster
2. Master of the dead
3. Buns157
4. Timinator
5. Timon92

You could easily include others but these are the 5 that come into my head when I ask this question.

If we constrain the definition of "actually playing now" to refer to current activity on the 3 active 1 v 1 ladders (ignoring RTL due to participation issues), then our top 5 are probably going to be some subset of the superset of the Top 5 players on each ladder.

Yeah, Wally's got to be trolling. Buns and mod literally just came in 1st/2nd on the seasonal.

Timinator and Pardon are the only "top" players on the 1v1/2v2/3v3 ladders atm IMO.

Pardon I'd likely place in top 10 of active players, Timinator in top 5 for sure.

Please note, I am not trying to discredit you or call you bad, but I think a lot of the QM ratings boil down to who plays it the most.

You have to be good at a template to be #1 on it, no question, but you don't actually need to be better than those ranked close behind if you play more than they do.

I also think your claim that Wally isn't a good player is silly, and I don't think it's a view you really hold. I'm not saying he's amazing, or anywhere near as good as you are, but there's no way the bar to be "good" is so high that it's above Wally.

All these guys who can supposedly crush the 1v1 ladder and you're allowed to play 1 game at a time, 3 days a turn. But they're what, too busy for that? Even though they come everyday to pat each other on the back on the forum and play circlejerk seasonals?
