Maybe you could add a "Highlight Territories" button to the pop-up window that you get when you click a player?

I still like this. The ability to click to highlight is the one thing I miss most from flash.

I just got this at the start of a game.

My two cents about the design topic.

First of all, I think the best design ever is the design of the Google!
(so now you can imagine my preferences ;) )

I like the green of the new design, but present, I feel that the old colours were better.
Although when I saw first those old colours I thought they are very awful (the darker pages were very unusual for me in that time), but then I liked (got used to) them.
I want to say, every change is hard, but over time everything gets better (and anyway, it is not possible to create a design which loved by everyone)

Ok, so I like the green colour, but don't like the military theme at all.
I did not even like the commander graphics, nor the Warzone name, nor that khaki style now.

I adore this game for two reasons:
  • I adore the maps
  • I adore the brain games
Here both are given.
For me, WarLight is not a military game, but a perfect brain game on maps (aka a perfect board game on maps as boards with endless possibilities!)

So a design inspired by nice old maps or/and traditional board game props would prefer me better, using the colour and style of the parchment for example (yeah I would definitely like the parchment style!)

But as I wrote, I like the green colour, only the military theme what I don't like now, but I am sure I will get used to it as well ;)
(and I think that the present design is a good design for the military theme, so don't fire your designer ;) )

Oh, and thank you very much for your hard work Fizzer!
And I hope, after this Unity rush, your focus will be on the competitive features too, soon or later ;)

They need an indication that checkbox means Multi-Day, and that "Play Now" means Real Time.

Well the checkbox explicitly says "Invite me to multi-day games". It should be pretty clear it's talking about multi-day. The hope was that "Play now" was clearly talking about playing an immediate game, and therefore real-time, but if people don't get that we can improve it somehow.

Quickmatch games: I see the slider goes up to 5, but allows manual input. I have tried 7 or 10 as values, but I never got more than 5 games at the same time

The slider goes up to 5, but you can go up to 10 by typing in the box. Note that quickmatch will never invite you to a game while it's your turn in a game. So anytime a game is waiting on you, the quickmatch system is skipping over opportunities to invite you to more games. Therefore, to get more than 5 games at a time, you have to be really fast about taking all your turns right away, or you have to just happen to be playing against slower opponents.

the descriptions of the speed of the first turn is so long that the actual turn order gets pushed off the top of the screen, so you have to pull the window down to see what you need

the ability to click a player name and see the number of territories and visible income, and (2) the ability to highlight a player's or team's territories by Ctrl-clicking the player or team name

Both of these are moved to statistics now. Part of the reason is because you can't ctrl+click on touchscreens, and the Unity client is trying to give the same experience across devices.

It also has some new fancy features: the territories bounce, making them easier to spot. There's a circle that narrows in on them, which helps if the territories were off-screen due to being zoomed in. You can also select neutral, which you couldn't do before. Teams can also be selected together, which you could do before but a lot of people didn't know about it since it was very hidden.

I just got this at the start of a game.

Hmm, strange. Let me know if this keeps being an issue, or if it was just a one-time thing. I'm also curious what happened when/if you tried to click around, or drag the map, etc.

Why can't it be both? One is just the theme, the other is the gameplay.

How to currently add friends on the mobile app:
Load a game.
Tap on the player's icon (the head) which is located on the bottom right (in portrait mode).
Click on a player's name.
Click on view full profile.
Click on add friend.

Dear Fizzer

with regards to the QM temps. I joined a 2v2 QM game based on the ladder. We were winning, my teammate suddenly surrendered without saying a word. There is no surrenders must be accepted. I had to surrender. Why does the normal 2v2 ladder have a surrenders must be accepted option but the QM not? I'm more likely to trust my ladder teammate to not bail on a game than I am to trust some random person on QM.

side note the name of the template is also wrong. It says 4 player FFA and not 2v2.

All looks much better, thanks for all your hard work.
The complaint of slowness still stands. It's still about three times as fast to play on flash as it is to play on unity, but i'm not sure that's something you're capable of fixing, since it might be a unity issue.

I also think it's very clear but have heard numerous people didn't quite understand it.

I was thinking have a "?" clickable tooltip?

I think that QM's are working great. The only hiccup is that doing one action - Quicmatch -> Play now is one action that does two things. Puts you into MD and start a RT seek. I would move the game buttons out of QM, and make the QM button just be where the settings for QM are. Another Pro is that this means 1-click to play.

Basically this : (with a small ? aftrer the Invite me to MD games checkbox. )

^Obviusly that is a quick and dirty put togheter. I think Play Now would be better on the left, not right as I did. I am not sure howuseful that little MyGames text is, so I just placed the box over it. A potential problem is that the button density is quite high. I think this still is better then how it works right now. Might require renaming QM to QM options and the box to be "Invite me to Multi-Day Q..M games". But, well the concept is there ^ and I think it would work

It doesn't do two thing It does one thing.

The button and the checkbox are clearly separate. I don't think it can be made more user friendly than it is, people just need to read what is on their screen.

The only change I'd recommend is maybe changing "Play Now" to "Play RT Games Now" or something that specifies RT.

@Nogals you weren't winning any more. Either way, you're talking about the player Word Walker, who blacklists people because either
- he can't take a joke
- they're better than him

He had me blacklisted and probably couldn't stand it that he blew away an advantage in our game.

So just blacklist him and move on.

I'm sure it doesn't, since if it did that'd allow people to blacklist anyone that didn't want to risk losing to.

Sorry but I hate the new android app. I started a game and had to surrender as I couldn't select a territory in the top left hand corner because the menu with the COMMIT button sits over it and I can't see how to get rid of it or scroll the map out from underneath it.

Also on both the windows PC version & android version the text and graphics are too big resulting in constant scrolling to see all the information. When I look at my recent 1v1 ladder games you can only see a few as the writing is huge.

When you're in a game with them, click their name, then View Full Profile. This will open up your browser, which is unfortunate -- sorry about that. But once there, if you're signed in on the website, there's a +Friend button. I have an item on my list to add this to the app so going to the browser isn't necessary, but it's not the highest priority at the moment.

Right now, instant-surrenders is a required setting for all quickmatch templates. The logic behind this was since the games are supposed to be quick, you shouldn't be forced to keep playing a game where you don't want to be. I can also see how that made a bad experience for you, and I'm sorry for that. The good news is that things like this happen to everyone who plays the 2v2 template on QM, so the ratings for that template will even out over time. Of course, you can always uncheck team templates.

I agree with you, this bothers me too and it's something I plan to fix. That being said, I still recommend switching to Firefox, and there's some fixes for speed in the next update which can get the load speed down to about 4.5 seconds on a fast PC.

It sounds like the UI Scale got set too high for you. Sorry about that. Can you go to the top right button -> Settings, and see what the UI Scale is set to? Then try tweaking it a bit to find a more comfortable value. It would be a huge help if you could send me the following info at fizzer@warzone.com:
- What device you have
- What the UI scale defaulted to
- After changing the scale, what did you find it most comfortable at
- A screenshot of the screen at the default UI scale

I will use this info to adjust the default, so that other people don't have the same bad experience.
