I suspect about 50 alts were involved in this scheme.

The reason I without doubt call suspicion is because the mapmaker has been suspended before due to forgery of map rating by creating loads of alts. In fact he's still banned to this day and operating under various numerous new accounts

he's on vacation and noone cares anyway on what mapmakers did only if map is good

I looked at the voters and it all looks OK to me.

yea and uh 18 people that voted on the starwars map were brand new alts too

LOL (i plead myself guilty, i voted for it, and i presume a huge bunch of people had the same funny idea and do not have the guts to confess)

Beyond Fizzer's statement, the number of votes was not significantly skewed. 272 votes were cast for this particular Map of the Week competition (Week 134). The previous 6 weeks (128 through 133) had the following totals (in descending order, from 133 to 128): 253, 286, 247, 235, 258, and 284.

In short, the total vote count appears to be indicative, at least superficially, of normal voting behavior.

why was this map even considered? it's stolen work. there's plenty of original maps to vote on, but instead you gave kudos to a pathetic troll. this kind of thing makes you look like a clown fizzer.

delete the map, ban the troll's IP and hold a new vote. this is not only dumb but bad for business. your customers provide intellectual property to you, for free, to enhance your game. the least you can do is not shit all over them by legitimizing plagiarists.

I want to say a quick sorry on my use of language of this thread. I probably shouldn't have used harsh words in my title and accuse someone too fast, but I can't let go the fact that I'm frustrated by this. Please understand the map creator of this map is banned, and that the map creator did some horrible stuff (including not only forging maps but also forging map ratings) He is by no means a hero and as a result of that it seemed unacceptable and unbelievable for me at the same to time for him to be awarded. I think it's just a downfall what we are experiencing. Then again I sorrow for my angry outburst here. I regret that I probably could've been nicer and ask for a investigation rather than accusing immediately. I'm deeply sorry for the upheaval, again guys

What criteria are we using to vote on maps? I ask, because not everyone seems to share my view that matching the map with the template is a valid reason to vote for or against certain maps.

Also, how many people voted for Lionheart's map based first and foremost on his [well-deserved] reputation as a map maker? Likewise, how many people vote on maps due to the topic (a particular location or fandom for example), with no regard for design? Are all those votes similarly invalid?

Well if someone can remember if the map was in the first three in the list (before it ended and they became sorted by votes) then it was by Fizzer.
