Congrats Apollo, Waka, Juan!

Your games were truly a pleasure to watch! (especially with wakanarai's beautiful analysis)

EDIT: this Africa team is carrying the explorers to second place. Let us see if xploders can hold the closely contended second place! Good luck!

actually africa hasn't been swept yet since we still have to play a replacement game against 1 of the teams, it's the only replacement in the tournament as far as i'm aware.
The replacement game will be against the team from Tacky (mr. dolphin) who was getting booted himself and that is the only game that will be replaced, just waiting now for Benoit to create that game for us since both teams have finished all of their other games.

Besides that it is confirmed Exploders have won the tournament though even if the outcome of the replacement game will be a loss due to the fact other teams that could get 1 loss only have lost against us so we have H2H and both of them are playing against each other right now.

I'll probably do an update later today with the new results added to it and maybe a short analysis on 1 of the games although i think all were mainly decided on boots. Yes this tournament has been very bootheavy expecially on the Army of Lovers with Atom not continuing to play and Love himself also going to retire as far as i'm aware.

Standing after my last update

1. Exploders (Juan, Apollo, waka) 3-0
2. All Blacks (xeno, Phakh, max) 2-1
2. Poop Squad (MT, Cluster, Drunken) 2-1
4. Irgeurs (Benoit, Bonsai, Patriot) 1-1
5. Army of Lovers (Love, Atom, Johnmd) 0-2
6. Space Dolphins (Inside, Pabse, Dolphin) 0-3 (dolphin getting booted)

The first game to finish after my last update is the game between All Blacks and Army of Lovers finishing in a win for All Blacks after Atom of the Army of Lovers getting booted once again, this time during Picking.

The next game to finish was Space Dolphins against Army of Lovers, the 2 teams plagued by boots. In this game Atom got booted once again during Picking and Mr. Dolphin from Space Dolphins got booted as well during turn 1. This game ended in a win for Space Dolphins and i think this mainly was due to positional advantage from Mr. Dolphin doing the picking himself and Atom getting booted on picking and AI being very bad at picking on this map in specific.

Now going on to the last game from this update. This being the game between the so far undefeated Exploders who were going against the Irgeurs.

The map:
In most of the Exceptional lands and Highlands were starting spots available making it a very open map where you needed coverage all over the map in order to win i feel like. So this is where both teams were aiming for.

Starting spots:
Exploders: Juan starts with a spot in Madagascar, a spot in the NW of the map and a spot around the center. Apollo starts with a spot in the NE of the map, a spot in South Africa and a spot in forest in the center. wakanarai starts with a double pick around High Plateau and a pick in Rift Valley Lakes.
Irgeurs: Benoit starts with a spot in Madagascar as well, this being directly next to Juan there and 2 picks of him being in Western Sahel. Patriot starts with a spot in South Africa and in the NE of the map as well. Both of these being directly next to Apollo and his last spot is also in the forest in the center but that is a big area of 2 bonusses, but this spot directly borders High Plateau. Then as last player Bonsai gets 2 spots in the NW of the map, bordering Juan there, and then 1 spot on the islands around Madagascar.

Turn 1:
Both teams decided to use their gift cards on this turn. Exploders decided that Juan should gift the spot in the NW of the map to wakanarai and in the mean time Irgeurs decided that Patriot should gift his spot in South Africa to Benoit. Both of these gifts turned out to be a good thing for their teams positioning I would say.
Further just some attacks happened that lowered some stacks, some attacks to take some more territories in their respective bonusses and then at last the fight at High Plateau where Patriot decides to attack with 4 armies into the bonus but gets quickly countered by me hoping i would get first move and he wasn't attacking with 5 or higher, else i wouldn't be able to take the bonus and the game might have looked totally different from that point forwards.

Only thing I would like to mention about this turn is Bonsai attacking 3 armies with 3 and benoit doing nothing against the 3 armies in his bonus. I personally would have hit both of those with 1 and then take it the turn after. That way you keep 1 more army alive as well as possible delay later on or just take another territory or bonus 1 turn earlier.

Turn 2:
In the NW i just went for safety by keeping my positon there and Bonsai was attacking in the most effective way he could there. In the NE Patriot decided to backtrack with his armies to take 1 additional income. Benoit took Western Sahel by deploying 2 there (would have only been 1 if he tapped it the turn before with 1). I finished Rift Valley Lakes and made sure Patriot couldn't break my bonus in High Plateau. I was also going for a last move attack into Patriot for if he didn't deploy or only deployed a bit but he deployed fully in the end. In Madagascar Benoit decided to move towards the north while Juan decided to tap his territory with 1 but Benoit had only 1 left there at that moment so Juan lost 1 army there. Then to finish it off Benoit took 1 of the 2 territories from Apollo in South Africa but no elimination from any area's this turn.

Turn 3:
This turn also nothing really happened at all except for the small action in the NE where Apollo was attacking the territory Patriot left the turn before and Patriot using his armies in the back there to blockade it leaving him with only 1 spot left next to High Plateau. In Madagascar Juan managed to drive back Benoit into the top of the island and in South Africa Apollo took back Cape of good Hope again.
In the mean time Juan and Benoit were expending in their private area's.

Turn 4:
This is the turn a good amount of action happened. Starting as usual in the NW i've decided to move back there into the islands so that i could focus on Patriot from the turn after that. To achieve this i did a transfer only into the territory from Bonsai with 3 armies and then used all of my other armies to move into the island next to it and blockading it behind me. Luckily for me Bonsai didn't attack this turn at all there so i was able to take the island in the back.
Benoit finished his Savanna bonus this turn where he started working on the turn before as well.
In The center area Patriot just stayed where he was but Bonsai came out of the islands next to Madagascar to triple border my High Valley Lakes bonus. On madagascar Benoit decided to move into the last neutral territory on the island but Juan predicted this and eliminated Benoit from Madagascar. In South Africa happened nothing at all except for some deployments.

Turn 5:
On the west side of the map it was just expending since nobody was bordering each other there any more. I finished my islands bonus, Bonsai started working on the mountains next to his stack there and Benoit started working on Niger (the only exceptional land without start).
Going into the center next Bonsai was succesfull in breaking my Rift Valley lakes bonus by taking 1 of the territories he was bordering and Patriot moved into a position so he would be double bordering my Rift Valley bonus. Juan just started expending into another island bonus next to Madagascar he could take the same turn and broke Bonsai his island bonus next to Madagascar.
In South Africa Benoit was attacking both of the territories from Apollo with just 3 armies and he managed to take 1 of those territories being a bit more safe there now again.

Turn 6:
Bonsai finishes his mountain bonus in the NW area, Benoit finished Niger. Juan started moving into the mountains next to Niger since we were aware of the position that Benoit started due to counting income on the first few turns. Nothing happened in Rift Valley Lakes even though i was kind of giving up on that at this point in time. At Rift valley i was fully deploying and then using most of it to attack into Patriot making his stack so small that he wouldn't be able to break my bonus (although thinking back about it now he could have broken my bonus if he deployed in the other territory and just attacked me then since i was attacking first move knowing i had priority over him), but in the end he was still attacking the same territory as i was attacking him from. Probably hoping i would expect him to hit the other side and not attack him and make sure he couldn't take it.
At the islands near Madagascar Juan is moving on to the main land already getting Bonsai out of the islands after all.
In South Africa Benoit decided to attack Apollo fully but since Apollo didn't have anything better to do he fully deployed there as well meaning Benoit lost more armies there than Apollo did.

Turn 7:
On this turn Bonsai got booted and his AI mainly expended into deserted territories in the NW of the map losing him 5 income there in total.
Benoit was losing ground in South Africa and even blockaded 1 territory there while moving into the back of the bonus and defending his main source of income at this point where Juan was next to.
I was fully focussing on Patriot this turn since we had a 2 turn plan at this point to eliminate Patriot fully from the game.

Turn 8:
Bonsai takes back control from his AI but the damage the AI has done, Juan managing to break some of the income from Benoit and benoit taking a mountain territory as well, together with the positioning from Exploders and the elimination of Patriot made Irgeurs decide to surrender after this turn

score update:
1. Exploders (Juan, Apollo, waka) 4-0
2. All Blacks (xeno, Phakh, max) 3-1
3. Poop Squad (MT, Cluster, Drunken) 2-1

A last small update from my side in regards for the 3v3 Africa tournament.

score after last update was:
1. Exploders (Juan, Apollo, waka) 4-0
2. All Blacks (xeno, Phakh, max) 3-1
3. Poop Squad (MT, Cluster, Drunken) 2-1
4. Irgeurs (Benoit, Bonsai, Patriot) 1-2
5. Space Dolphins (Inside, Pabse, Dolphin) 1-3 (dolphin getting booted)
6. Army of Lovers (Love, Atom, Johnmd) 0-4 (Atom getting booted)

Out of the 4 games left, 3 have been played. Will go later and say why the last game hasn't finished yet.

First game to finish was Irgeurs against the Army of Lovers and as expected Lovers are getting booted again giving Irgeurs the win.
Next game to finish was Irgeurs (2-2 now) against the Poop Squad (2-1 still). This game has had multiple boots in the 2nd half of the game as well from both Bonsai (Irgeurs) and Master Turtle (Poop Squad), but in the end Irgeurs were able to take the victory in this game.

Last game in this update is All Blacks (3-1) against the Poop Squad (2-2). A win for All Blacks means they will finish in 2nd place while if they lose it will be a 3-way tie between All Blacks, Poop Squad and Irgeurs. Seeing that this game has some implications but this game in the end gets finished on boots in the Poop Squad again just like last game.

With that the standing right now in the tournament are:
1. Exploders (Juan, Apollo, waka) 4-0
2. All Blacks (xeno, Phakh, max) 4-1
3. Irgeurs (Benoit, Bonsai, Patriot) 3-2
4. Poop Squad (MT, Cluster, Drunken) 2-3
5. Space Dolphins (Inside, Pabse, Dolphin) 1-3
6. Army of Lovers (Love, Atom, Johnmd) 0-5

The last game between the Exploders and the Space Dolphins is supposed to have a replacement game but the leauge managers haven't really been active lately, even in our discord chat for this league with all the team managers and from most teams a 2nd member as well for backup communication point. With this in mind I feel like this will be the last season of this league unless something changes really fast in the coming days.

I hope all participants enjoyed this more unusual event and want to thank the organizers for all the work they put into setting all of this up for multiple seasons (even though I only played this season).

update:

I'll be taking over the league and some small changes will be happening which i will announce later today in a new forum thread. For now a last update in regards to season 3 which will not be continued with replacement games any more.

Space Dolphins and Exploders have started their replacement game even though this season will end without all games finishing. The game itself is currently on turn 10 and it feels like the Exploders are winning the game making them the clear winner of this tournament and the Space Dolphins will finish in 5th place in this case.

Other tournaments should have finished by now as well so i'll just start the preperations later today in the new thread.
