Just as expected, the only semi playable commander template is the pick for the next season.

Fizzer didn't get many template propositions though, so you guys can't be surprised if fizzer choses whatever commander template he thinks about first.

Maybe next season we get a say again. Prepare your templates! Maybe i'll even set up some template contest again

Edit: ps just had the idea that there could be some sort of ranking or voting on the best MDL templates which haven't been used for a seasonal yet. Sounded like a nice idea to me. They would also be well tested and will have a video by then if they don't have one already by now

Considering we got a say on the last season, On a template which was concerned over it's fancy bonus system being too complicated for newbies. I suppose we return the favour for a lovely 3rd Commander seasonal. (Pause for applause)

I don't mind Berens commander template , I believe it's the best commander template on he game. I believe it might win some people over if you didn't like the past 2 Commanders seasonals..

I'm just happy Fizzer didn't go for a Commander and Bomb card template as a creation template like Commanders and LD! I'm almost sure this would've been the case if not for Beren making a commander template! So thank you Beren!

Um, Fizzer, you got the settings wrong. It should be 4 base income.

Unless you deliberately took the version which was deemed inferior by Beren himself. I don't understand why would you do that.

Yeah, I updated the template later to 4 base income ,which is better. If you can change it to that, or would be appreciated.

To be fair, I have the same stance as Aura Guardian, but considering this is my first seasonal and the fact that I've only played commanders twice AND the fact that I generally do badly on the ladders (*cough* RTL *cough*), I'm not going to do well here either.

But hey, I'm willing to give it a whirl, why not?

I didn't realize I needed to expound upon "ugh" (seemed self-explanatory) so:

- Commanders are very polarizing. There are a lot of people who don't care for them. In fairness, I totally get using them for a seasonal or two in order to show off some of the game's features, but 3 out of 6 seasons feels like it's being shoved down our throats.

If there was talk about this, seems it was either rushed or buried somewhere, like usual.

The mood was brought down to the negative Nancie's when a 3rd seasonal ladder on the same map and Commander was introduced. Do players really want this Fizzer? I find it unfair to expect comments to be expanded from Bonsai , Kaerox and Min34 , When clearly you've ignored the critiscm of commanders and have pushed on with this! Some people are just tired and not bothered to right passionate essays to why they don't want it when they know there efforts are for nothing and have no relevance. If they were , There wouldn't be 3 commander seasons.

I agree with you on templates preference that some people want to play and some people don't want to play . But is it fair when there's a group of people that don't like commanders to bring them through 3 seasons of commanders in the last 6? Is this fair on those players?

Well, I might be the only one here but I really like this choice. I like commanders, and as a non-member, I don't get a lot of opportunities to play competititve games with this setting.
3 seasons of commanders is a lot if you only consider the seasonal ladders, but not so much when you look at the larger competitive scene.


Regarding the template: could I suggest making it NLC rather than cyclic?
Losing your first pick on a commander template lets you know where the enemy commander is, but in my opinion, that knowledge doesn't offset the handicap you suffer from that loss. Especially if you picked your #1 alone and your #2/#3 in a combo.
So if two players pick the same #1, I think it would be fairer to award the pick according to speed rather than luck.

I don't have a problem with having an intellectual discussion about the settings here. But people who just post "Ugh" or "Yuck" aren't contributing anything and are just bringing down the mood for the people who do enjoy the settings and are here to have fun. That's why I downvoted them and I recommend others do the same.


My main problem is the map. The settings (Outside of commanders) are fine. Here's a list of all maps used on the seasonals.

14 out of the 28 seasons has been MME/ME. Why is it so hard to ask for more variety.

This is without mentioning that the last few seasonals have been commanders half the time.

I completely agree with rakleader's statement.Having a bit of experience at cyclic and no-luck cyclic games(from coin ones) when it comes to Commanders,#1 and #2 pick could destroy you if you opt for a specific tactic.No-luck cycle really gives another perspective to this strategy and rewards faster picker
