Update: I can chew some softer foods but things like bread are still near impossible.

the first week will suck. soup is your best friend. mashed potatoes are also good, along with noodles

i still do 2, even though they say after every meal. but im not brushing after lunch in school.

just eat spaghetti. When I had braces, I ate spaghetti for the whole week I got them

How does dental care work in America , is it covered by medical insurance or do braces count as cosmetic work?

Lol one of my brackets fell off because I ate one of those, idk what they are called but it's something duo where one side is like minty and the other is grape. Well one of my friends offered my one and I chewed it in the bottom left corner like I have the past week or so, and one of the brackets just fell off, I didn't expect it to be sticky or anything.

never had bracket fallen off.... ive had stuff stuck in expander, wire popping out/bending/snapping(wires are my trouble)

Had braces for a year. I broke brackets off chewing gum. Don't chew gum. Basically, nothing sticky or nothing that tends to get between teeth and be hard to get out. Oh, and nothing hard, for obvious reasons.

When I had braces, I used to eat my favorite candy, Starburst. It ripped the molar brace clear off my tooth. Wouldn't suggest eating Laffy Taffy, either.

I have had them in for a year and still not eaten Laffy Taffy.

Starburst,popcorn and sugar free gum I had after about 6 months.

Eat cautiously with that stuff
