Well I will just clarify my position I surrendered 1 game thinking I would lose it and have now finished both my 1v1 tournmanets. Will still continue playing the remaining games I have for 2v2's

Congratulations to Vincent Valentine, Alexander the Great and Cloud Strife for winning Guiroma, Greece and Treasure Map respectively! Very strong performance by 7th Heaven! They could have been 1st if Leviathan didn't abandon his games... ;w;

Unless two major upsets happen, ACL Tears should win Strategic 1v1 ME SR! Meanwhile, the deciding match between CJ (ACME) and Forsete (NWO) is going on.

Thx zero for updates :). You forgot about Battle Islands tho :P. I think Mirage (NWO) or ACL Tears (ACME) will go 6-0/5-1. We will see who goes 5-1 and who goes 6-0 between the 2!

In the meantime, rp is doing a lot better in team games (in particular 3v3) compared to 1v1s. Role Playing could get 4th place from Vikingers if they keep it up!

yea rp are doing better than I first thought :P, in particuliar in 3v3 for now!

At the start of CL8, I only knew for sure 7th, ACME and NWO had good line-ups but the rest of my previsions were based on not too much knowledge. I kind of expected the diplo clans (AOE and rp) to not do much good (considering they are role playing clans) but I guess I was wrong about rp :P.

Yea 1v1 games are regarded by a lot of people as the standard type of game to determine the level of skills of a player on strategical gaming. In a sense, it is true that it is the best indicator of the level of skills of a player if we consider only the analytical skills of that player and his/her instincts (being able to predict your opponent based on gut rather than pure logic).

In team games though, you must not only possess analytical skills and instincts but you also need other aspects in order to have success. Theses aspects all turn around social skills: communication, respect of others, being able to cooperate, etc. It isn't all good 1v1 players that will necessarly do good in team games but for sure if you lack 1v1 skills, your ability to play in team games will be compromised. There will often have someone in the team who will lead if a guy is clearly better than the others on a specific template (puppeting) or if there is a lack of time (like in RT games). That being said, I think the best teamgames are amongst guys that are about the same level of skills because there is more cooperation. Cooperation isn't always easy in the sense that you will sometimes have to take the lead, other times more be "passive" and listen to your teammates suggestions, etc.

I personally prefer teamgames but only with guys that are know are reliable :P. Otherwise, teamgames can be a pain in the a$$.

I hate playing single player. It's boring. While yes, I see how the skills at being good at single player translate into success in team games, single player is very limited to me. In a team game, you not only have to be good at playing your game, but also realize how your moves fit in with the overall "strategy" for the team for that turn. I've seen some teams composed of all really good players individually who just couldn't work with one another and caused the game to be lost because of the team strategy being at cross purposes.

From what I've noticed, a successful WL team usually has someone that steps up and controls things, and the other people on the team have to submit their individual egos to this person, as well as gives and receives constructive criticism at appropriate times. Then again, I came to WL from being a raid leader in Everquest and earlier in Dark Age of Camelot for a little while, where that became second nature to me given the size and scope of raiding in an MMO format, where there's usually multiple objectives to accomplish.
