All of these players, joining the ladders, getting top ranks and then later, forgetting to leave the ladder and quitting. Often with 5 games going at a time. Why? Is this the new fashion trend for ladder #1s? To give free notable victories to randoms, and to let their clan tags sink to the bottom 300? How amusing.

At first i thought this would be a commentary on strategy. Then i thought, hmm, maybe this will be about how top players sometimes act un sportsman like in regards to the non 1v1 crowd.

I had no motivation or time to play at that point and i tought i'd have a bigger incentive to come back when there were some ladder games going on...

Fun fact - it doesn't hurt him (much)- with only few games in seasonal your overall rating is very low as you don't get bonus points for every finished games. But it does not influence other people ratings, cause your "real elo rating" is quite high (at least it shouldn't be low with 7-2 score) and it's all that matter. (In other words - if you want to screw someone result don't leave, just stay and keep losing:D)

But more in relation to topic - one of possibilites i guess is desire to break ladder wins streak (with so many losses rating won't go up very fast after winnings - more games against weaker players)

I mean the current record holder did it.

If I am not wrong, current ELO rating system only uses last XXXX games, not time period (like year or something). So, there may be improvement in rating system if both recent games and last games should be used in consideration as important factor, while older games should have less impact on rating system.

In TR games, as it is stated in rules, if player forgets to exit ladder, and he didn't log off, there is a chance that he is drawn to next RT game, and without knowing he is in game, he gets booted. After that boot he is automatically logged off the ladder. In multi-day ladders (save seasonal), people with 2-5 boots in the row (with less than 5 turns played per game) should be automatically kicked from the ladder, and their results from older games should diminish through the time, but should never be below 70% of their last result, so when they come back (if) people who are playing with have some starting gains in ELO rating.

Warlight, however, is not the game of chess, with masters and grand-masters, but similar system can be inherited here - real time and multi-day separately.

unless it's changed since I last looked at it *which is a real possibility* the warlight ELO system takes the last 3 months of games into account, and only gives you a rank if you have completed at least 10 games in that time frame.

Its 20 games and 5 months now.
