Well for me the point of the tourney is to see who is the best holder of the UK flag. But a similar tourney in your country is not possible as there are not lots of players (I think). For that reason and because both countries are srongly related I would be ok to welcome you. But if I find out that your country has a decent community, then I would suggest you do a similar tournament with your flag mates then top players from both tournaments (or league for that matter? and from other countries too?) could face each other.

Mostly, have the best/safest bonuses in terms of position be less efficient (less borders, corners), maybe use the number of provinces -2/3 for the income; the worst/riskier bonuses in terms of position (lots of borders, center) should be the most efficient bonuses, maybe use the number of provinces -1 for the income.
Maybe also add the isle of man in a bonus worth 0. It could be used as an extra connection between N.Ireland and Scotland/Wales.
This is a complete mess of a thread and has turned into a stupid argument when people really should be spending this time and effort on more useful things like what template we should use.
Since this is a "UK players tournament" I think it is ridiculous that Plat isn't being outright accepted for living in Northern Ireland.
Not a fan of the templates either, my favorite choice would be old strat 1v1, but I'm old fashioned like that.
