I am descended of British colonists in the 1600's. The town I grew up in is named after a town in England. I can correctly pronounce Worcester, MA. I know that Leicester is at the top of the EPL table and that you guys don't give a crap about American football even though we try and shove it down your throat. Who has more of a claim to this tourney, me or Plat?
Britain only refers to England and Wales. Great Britain refers to England, Wales and Scotland. The UK is Great Britain and Northern Ireland (but not Ireland)
It's confusing i know :D
Bonsai, I would say you qualify! More than Plat anyway :D
It's not confusing, it's simple, but since when did "Britain" only refer to just England and Wales? That's never been the case unless you're just making stuff up, see the image I just posted for clarification.
Scotland is both part of Great Britian and the British Isles, it's as much a part of Britain as anything can be.
"Britain" is usually taken as short for "Great Britian" but it doesn't really mean anything, it could mean the British Isles just as much, it depends on context more than anything.
Some people also consider it to refer to the UK, but as that's something that changes over time I don't think that's a very accurate use of the word.
