Many nationalities evolve to become an ethnicity, as you can see above, but some countries, such as Belgium and Switzerland, have no national ethnicity.
Some ethnicities have no country of its own and do not govern themselves. An example of this was the Jewish people, until the post-WWII events occurred, having Israel created. Two modern examples of ethnicities that do not govern themselves are the Kurds and the Armenians.

The USA is another example of a state that is not a nation-state. "American" is the nationality, but it is not an ethnicity.

Ignorance? General, the notion of Race is again irrelevant, I will now explain you why.
"Race" has been used during the nineteenth century to distinguish human groups according to arbitrary criteria (religion, nationality, skin color , geographical origin). Today it is only used by racialist ideologists or political actors promoting a racist ideology.
Since the mid-twentieth, studies in genetics have shown that the concept of "race" is not relevant to characterize the different geographical sub-groups of the human species because genetic variability between individuals of same subset is greater than the average genetic variation between geographic subgroups.
The current scientific consensus rejects the existence of biological arguments that could legitimize the notion of race, relegated to an arbitrary representation by morphological criteria, ethno-social, cultural or political, such as identities.
However, as this notion is based upon a social construction, the way you conceive the notion of "race" will totally depends on where you are from: hence in the US views of race that see racial groups as defined genetically are common in the biological sciences although controversial, whereas the EU rejects theories which attempt to determine the existence of separate human races.
That's why using this term is irrelevant and dangerous since there is no real consensus here, and often if not always, it leads to foreseeable misuses.

There is no true nation-state in the world, however. Denmark is one of the closest we see to being a true nation-state, where most Danish people live in Denmark and 90% of the population is Danish (this statistic may have changed since many refugees came from many countries to various countries in Europe).
