Haha xD didn't realize that. Why should there be a +4 if you can't have negative reinforcement cards (would be useless anyways, cause you can discard them)? Whoever made these drawings didn't put a lot of toughts in it or has no idea of how cards work (pieces, +before the number)

I agree with people saying Warlight has moved away from its roots. Commanders, new cards, all these ideas for 'special units' - its all bullshit. Just play Civ or something. Warlight is Risk. Keep it that way.

Risk 2210 does exactly that. and dude you can play without commanders. and i wouldn't be surprised if fizzer made it so you could use the old ones again.

I'm also not at all a fan of this design.

It's cute, maybe, but hard to tell apart and doesn't match the "spirit" (or design) of Warlight.

I'd like to have the option to switch to the old cards (I would). However, I'm sure I'll also get used to them with time, so it's not a terrible thing.

What I find more distracting is that they don't generally fit the themes of Warlight. These days I'm playing a "zombie"-themed game, a game about medieval England, a war set in the Roman Empire, and a "space age" map. Only one of my games actually has anything to do with MODERN WARFARE.

It's not a huge problem; but it's distracting and does not fit well. Before we were allowed to imagine whatever we liked (or not). Now the Commander and this card art forces us to envision our games as modern warfare, and I think that does a disservice to the human imagination.

Like many others, I'd rather have some other game settings to play with.

(Like Deployment Limits: https://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/7328093-deployment-limits-a-tactical-option-esp-for-mul - which is second highest-rated Uservoice not to have received a yeay or nay from Fizzer. Surely it would be a lot easier to implement than something like the Commander?)

I like them. For those that find them confusing, you know you can still read the description under them, right?

Yeah Guderian, I'm finding that all I see at a glance is a sea of green, so I seem to just read the descriptions underneath now. But the time it takes for a brain to interpret a word as opposed to a colour is much longer. It's frustrating but it's the best we have now :/

The fact abandons and bloackades are now so similarly named and only so recently thows me too. I hope it won't take too long to get used to, I don't understand why he felt the need to change the border colours though :/

Bomb and sanctions look nice but a lot of them look really silly. The spy card is ridiculous with that giant block head and toddler hands.

When I first saw these, I thought someone in my game just messed with settings and somehow put new images on the cards. Now seeing that this is an update to the game as a whole, I'm a little disappointed. They seemed gimmicky and fit the game I was playing earlier, but don't seem to jive with Warlight as a whole. I'm slow to accept change, but I'll get used to it.

Sidenote: Anyone else think the statue on the gift card kind of looks like Donald Trump?

"The fact that these cards are ugly according to some people here, really this is not important at all.

The most important thing is that Fizzer keeps making minor changes (like renaming cards such as the very useful "emergency blockade card"...), and does not give a damn about Uservoice's suggestions, ignoring suggestions having thousands or hundreds of votes which have been ignored for some during 4 years. Again this is imo the main problem."

No, the problem is entitled fuckwits thinking they should get to mandate how someone else runs their business.

This isn't Burger King, you can't have it your way. If you want it your way then make it yourself.

I am not that active on the forums, but I made a specific visit to find a thread about the new card designs. Surprise, surprise, it was at the top of the general forum.

I agree with the majority here, the cards didn't need changed, they are hard to tell apart, and it doesn't matter what we think. I certainly will say I will be making games with a lot less cards from now on. Maybe that's Fizzer's plan all along; get people to stop using cards, so that he can introduce more units.

Thank you.

@Omniscient I am strongly considering it, I just wanted to give fizzer the benefit of the doubt, but I think knyte is right, it might be time to make our own now...

Fleece, the borders on outside cards are wider...
not sure if that would help enough when the card is only partially shown?

In the case of the Reinforcement Card, I think the planes should be removed,
and a green outline is not useful. :-\

Omni, I actually like the art,
but I agree with many / most people here, I think the art will be confusing to a lot of people, including myself.

I'd like a choice, or if a choice isn't an option,
then simply a return to the old design would be preferable.

I don't like the designs, they are too confusing. I liked the old ones because of their simplicity. It was easy to know what was each one only with a look, now you can't do that because there are a lot of similar designs...

I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but I like the new cards.

Edit: Although they're not perfect, and they're not better than the original cards, I still feel as though they are good in their own way. As someone else stated earlier, the cards aren't the problem, it's the fact that the creation of new card designs was prioritized over things that the warlight community actually wants to see changed.

For me, I don't like the new cards.

Main reason is simply that I have slowish internet, and so when I check what cards I have, it takes ages for the pictures on them to load so I can tell the cards apart. Once they are loaded, there is the other issue that they all look similar at a glance.

Bring back the old ones please.

Minimalism works for warlight perfectly.

The game really doesn't need gimmicks like this, these are better suited for a wannabe-humorous, run-of-the-mill, invite-your-friends facebook game.
I completely agree with this, the new illustrations make the game look ridiculous.

Someone should make a poll or an uservoice to see how many people prefer the new cards' art vs the old one

In the old card camp here. The issues have been mentioned already:

- cards too similar
- only apply to modern era war

The minimalistic styling of the old cards was very distinctive and was viable in any game, no matter the setting.

Would like an option where you can choose your Card packages though.
