You move quickly towards the hut. One of the hunters looks like he saw you go, but he doesn't raise the alarm. The hut is much bigger than it looks. It is sparsely furnished, with the same decorative fox symbol on every surface. The two things that look out of place are a picture of a mysterious woman in a beautifully carved gold frame, and a small, bedraggled bird on the floor. A pair of dice appear to be floating above its head, but you blink and the dice are gone.

(what, you wanted a chance to follow them REALLY WELL or fail at following them? Basically, if I look at an action and I think, "it doesn't matter how well they do this action" I don't roll.)

You turn to leave and hear a series of bloodcurdling screams. Out the window, you can see the dead bodies of the hunters fall to the ground in pieces. They won't be giving you information any time soon. Still looking, you notice that the injured baby fox is gone.

You look around. Outside, everything is weirdly still. Inside the hut, the bird has started chirping quietly, but nothing else has changed.

You charge at the bird! Time seems to slow around you, but you brush the effect off. The bird quickly changes shape, growing bigger and bigger. You get your hands around its neck and start to choke it, only to have the bird and everything else around you dissolve into white mist. Lost in the white mist, you turn, looking for something, anything, but nothing is there. You hear a deep, echoing voice. "Be at peace my child. Your attempt to kill shows that you still have my blessing. I am RNGsus, and you seem to have been sent on an interesting quest. I shall guide you through all your troubles. Maybe. There's probably about a 50% chance. Anyway, I leave you with two things, my blessing for a short while, and a warning: Beware of snakes and foxes, though one will make a great ally."

You black out.

You wake up on the floor of the hut, feeling new strength course through you. A wardrobe hangs open to your right. You suddenly hear the sound of the doorknob turning. Someone or something is entering the hut.

(Gained "Blessing of RNGsus": +(0 to 3) to all rolls until it randomly wears off.)

Roll: 1. RNGsus Bonus:0. Oh god.

You bravely pull out your sword, ready to fight the unknown! You begin your charge into the other room, but your foot catches on a rug and you go down hard, cracking a rib. It's at this point that you notice your sword has stabbed into your leg. A woman comes in from the doorway, looking completely unfazed that there's a stranger bleeding on the floor. She waves her hand, and you black out.

You wake up, but you cannot see anything clearly, despite the bright light. You appear to be unable to move, and someone is whispering nearby, but you can't figure out what he's saying. A large, round thing suddenly enters your field of view. It's too blurry to identify. You wonder again why you can't move. You blink. Wait, your eyes can move, why not the rest of you?

Assuming the source of the whispering is a human, you ask why you can't move. The whisper comes back perfectly clear. "You are not strong enough". You feel a chill pass through you as you recognize the voice. It's so familiar, but you can't remember whose voice it is. The room becomes clearer. You are lying on a table, and all you see are two charred walls, each holding a bizarre assortment of paintings. Muzak plays in the background.

(side note: if you had rolled less than a 15 on the wake up, you would've woken up in a much worse situation.)

You do a few mental push ups to exercise your mind. You mentally push towards the sound of the whispers. You run into a wall of Muzak, but break through it. By the time you do, all you mentally see is a fleeting glimpse of red, then the whisperer is gone. A whispered "so long" reverberates through your head. You snap back to your own body, and discover you can move again. You stand up off the table, and are surprised to see that your wounds have completely healed. There is no exit that you can see, just four walls covered with paintings. The room is about 10 feet wide, and 70 feet long. Your table is at one end of it. Your sword has disappeared, but you still have your armor. Reaching into a pocket, you discover a small medallion engraved with a fox's head. On the back is the inscription: This will pay the price when you know not what you are buying

You attempt to look behind a painting. There's another painting behind it. You quickly check all the paintings. It seems that this room's walls are made of layers of paintings.
