If you want to get respect, you gotta show respect as well.
Warlight players are not teachers who get paid to serve you,
parents who are obligated to raise you, or salesmen who might make some money off you.
They're human beings that come here for their own entertainment, not yours,
hence here are some tips

- Do not get yourself booted in too many games.
Getting booted means you rather abandon a game and let your opponents wait instead of taking 30 seconds to click "surrender." If your boot-percentage is high, chances are that you cannot join(nor see) most of the games being advertised, as game-creators do not want you to join their games(with reason)
bootpercentage over 20 percent = troll account
bootpercentage between 10 and 20 percent = meh(i'm here)
bootpercentage between 5 and 10 percent = good
bootpercentage under 5 percent = pro

- Communicate with your team.
Even if you're just a newb who can't add much to the team's overall strategy,
it's nice to know you're reading teamchat. If you do not wish to do this, do not join teamgames.

- do not abandon your team.
If you're playing a teamgame, you surrendering(or booted) will forfeit the game for the rest of your team as well, talk with your team and make the decision to continue or give up as a team.

- Blacklist and move on.
If you do not like another player's behaviour(for example, because he booted you 1 sec after the direct-boot time expired) blacklist that player so you won't have to play with that player again.
Announcing you've blacklisted someone is okay(and a show of respect,) but do not whine about a player's behaviour for ages in chat/forum, nor ask other to blacklist for you, we're not your personal army.

- vote-to-end
If the game gets ruïned early on, vote-to-end the game,
this is mainly needed in teamgames where one of the players gets himself booted in the first turn.

- Do not feed the trolls
This is mostly about the forums, if someone is clearly trolling and you 're not amused,
do not bump his/her threads, since when people do this, the troll is fed and will continue.
(this is common internet etiquette, though some of the warlight-players do not seem to get this)

Bonus tips to get better:

-get your winrate up(mainly 1vs1)
If you want to improve your skill, it helps playing against more skilled players.
Off course they will work with the same logic and not wish to play with you if you're a total noob.
The most common prerequisite used to accomplish this is the 1vs1-winrate.

- After losing a game, ask your opponent why you lost,
often good players will know what you're going to do before you know it.
Most warlight-players are decent people who do not mind giving out some advice.

I may update this post if the community has some extra tips/etiquette that i missed.

this needs to be on the warlight page as soon as someone signs up. +1

A few other things, vote to end if booted turn 1, and don't be a dick and not accept surrenders but otherwise I think you have everything covered.

get your winrate up
I don't agree with this - but I agree that playing against skilled players helps you get better. Don't aim to get your winrate up, anyone can achieve that by playing against bad players; aim to get better! getting stomped by good players is part of the process, so don't worry about it - once you get better, the winrate will raise up naturally as a gauge of your improvement ;)

Isn't the whole point of a game to have fun instead of giving players rules to follow on how YOU play. Seriously my middle finger points towards you.

I could have nearly 10% lower boot rate and still be a "troll account". Wow, never knew that.

Don't boot in 20% of your games, guys. If it's an old account, and you don't boot so much any more, that's fine - but don't start a game if you have good reason to believe that you can't finish it, and surrender rather than boot.

Interesting, but there is a certain irony in that OP has been booted 11.8% of the time..?

Mine was 49% when I joined the gentleman clan now it's 42.4 in a matter of under 2 weeks. It can be done but it's not required to be respected or to be good.

Added the vote-to-boot, thnx.
About accepting surrenders i don't know, if they have to be accepted due to settings there 's generally a reason the host included it.

Off course you're right, but i included the stats because that's how Warlight works and it may not be clear to everyone this is important as well.

It's not rules, it's etiquette.(and tips)

I suppose troll-account is a bad description, but i don't know any better word for it.

Yes, and your thread about never getting into any good games/meet decent players has been a major inspiration to write this thread.
Do you understand the reasons why you should NOT get yourself booted now ??

In the day when I had a lower boot rate, there was no player to be decent enough to be well worth learning about.
