Hmmm... not a smart move of Fizzer. Not much into being a member now. I used 3 vacations a year and don`t really mind the adds. The ladders were the reason I became member. This is just stupid.

pulsey, everyone bought the membership because it was something for life... did they pay for something for life which would be available without buying?
about the lower quality players, it is true that there are members with lower quality, and as the number of players in the ladder increases it will be harder and harder for players with much lower points to play with players on higher point lvls, and the increase in ladder players wotn affect the game play much.
My only problem with all this si that membership is basicly ireelevant by now... the idea itself ma not be as abd as all that, though fizzer shoudl arraneg some worthwhile new feature for members (and presonalized m's wont do it)

Yeah, I only became a member because I love making large custom scenarios. I am always fair in my distributions and bonuses, but non members are slowly unlocking the power to create so called "diplomacy games" that are not fun where they set a one minute autoboot and give themselves huge bonuses so they can win 24 or whatever FFAs. They give reputable large scenario makers like myself and other true Diplo fans a bad name.

yeah, and now that nonmembers can create tourneys, so many idiots create the worst tourney ideas possible, and then like hellbender said, so many games just made to level up so people can get stuff they used to be unable to get..., for the point idea to work, it needs to only be on standardized games, like you only get points for the auto game, or on a template fizzer determines actually decent, not duel with changed bonus values
EDIT: that is because you are a hypocritical nonmember, if you were a member that payed thirty dollars, TO USE THE MEMBER ONLY FEATURES, you would be pissed if a few months later suddenly all of those features are available to everyone

@ WGchris, no I have few granfathered achivements I unluck myself when WL 2.0 come out. Past games don't give lots of points. I played a lot and unlock achivement myself. Points are earned in majority by games anyway.

To avoid mistakes, I didn't need to farming no one.

BTW I NOW need a player that join me in the 2v2 LADDER.
:D

I agree in the tournament thing. (People using better settings), but not on ladders. Members should have access to those only. Or let high levels play for only a set period maybe

I think its good, competition in ladder will increase. More good players are nicely welcome there. I also think that if someone played couple thousands of games should be allowed to unlock ladder, local deployments and other stuff, but also I admit it shouldn't be so easy. It must be hard to get.

Any map being used for obvious farming (aka all the ones with low amounts of territories and 1 territory bonuses) need to be set to unlock at a higher level than what there is actually to unlock so they can stop bieng done.

(pointless with all the grandfathered accounts having access to them, but it may be worth something)

To use someone's phone example, this is more like buying a new phone and then anyone else who sends a ton of texts out also gets that phone free.

Like I said, why not give people ladder abilities for a short period of time (a month maybe)? Or just give them access to the current seasonal ladder (only that season). Then you get their feet wet and hopefully encourage them to buy a membership. Or maybe when you get to a certain level the membership is only the $20 then.

I just don't understand this business model. You completely undercut loyalty by giving away everything for 'free' that others paid for.

the problema about that is that he already agve ti to them... its a bit late to change that, and except for the time when fizer created membership, he never took anything away

How is it too late? Why can't he take away something he gave for free? There was no contract signed, he can do whatever he wants really.

Your boss tells you he will give you a promotion if you complete more assignments. You do so, but he later gives the promotion to somebody else.

How do you feel? There was no contract signed on your promotion, he can do whatever he wants really.

Correct, he can. And that has actually happened to me. So I quit that job because I did not respect my boss.

The difference here is where did he promise that promotion? Nobody knew what the unlocks were.

And that logic can also be applied in this fashion:

Your boss promises you opportunities at work if you certify yourself (you pay the fee for the certification...in this case buying a membership). Then months later gives all the same opportunities to anyone else who has been there a while without expecting the same commitment from them that you put in (which he required at that time).

How would you feel about that?

thanks to this thread, they all do now. If he takes them back it would be like going to a party, giving the host a present, than taking it back. You could do it, but its cheap behaviour.
