Benjamin. Don't reply to him and neither use my name in your posts.

I'm serious. Don't do it.

I really hate kids.
I totally hate kids

Then you should probably stay away from the forums, or maybe Warlight entirely. There are a lot more kids here than you'd care to know.

I hope you get things figured out, Platinum, you deserve recognition for your efforts :)

there are a lot of decent kids on here, but they act like adults. there are also some immature adults here who may as well be kids. :P

@Plat

5 options:

1. a life
2. school
3. forums
4. forum-organized games
5. normal WL games

You can pick any 3. Choose wisely.

LOL I picked 2,3,5

Way too long for me to read, but if it's any consulation prize I think you're alright.

And there are a crazy amount of kids on this site, but that means either get used to it, or move on. There's no point in complaining about 75% of the playerbase.

Point #1: You are in too many games. Stop joining them until your sanity is restored. You may have to surrender some (better than being booted).

Point #2: You may have ADHD.

Elaboration on point #1: When I started getting more involved with multi-player, I joined game after game, until I was at like 50-60 multi-day games at once. For those lazy days when I had nothing to do, this kept up the pace and let me play pretty much continuously, with the odd break here and there for sleep/eating/etc.

But then I realized that I would have to keep up that pace pretty much every day in order to maintain it. No time for other stuff. And when I was doing other stuff, I kept worrying about whether I had taken all my turns, etc. Too many games = anxiety.

I had to wean myself off of starting new games and just play out my existing games until the numbers started coming down. It took surprisingly long to get it down to 20 or so. Now I'm at less than 10, which is easily manageable.

Elaboration on point #2: I say that because I myself have ADHD. The long and the short of it is that I get too caught up in too many things at once and I just don't have enough 'focus' to go around for all of them. Maybe you *don't* have ADHD; but even if you don't, you still should strive to become self-aware enough that you can recognize when you take on too much and put yourself at risk of getting overwhelmed with anxiety. Take your mental health seriously; if you're getting too stressed out, slow things down; give yourself a break; prioritize what's most important and focus on those things. But seriously, you may have ADHD. Might be worth looking into. :-)

yeah you're in too many games right now
playing 30 games at once is always difficult, you need to cut down on your games count
don't join all the tournaments you've been invited to,they never end,and play only as many ladder games as you can at a time

if you play too many games it also affects your winning rate, since you'd much rathr want a game to end so you can move on than think for longer so you can try to win that one
if you have limited no. of games that you can manage easily, you'll also be able to improve your skill as you can analyze each game longer

Dr.Stupid wants my head. I've been hated from that clan ever since

Lol. I don't want anyone's head. I politely declined to be in one of your events because I questioned your leadership abilities. One of the abilities of leadership is to manage your time wisely. Another is to recruit other team members and/or other leaders to help you bear the load. In retrospect, it would seem that I may have been correct in my assessment. The good news is, you aren't the first person to overextend themselves (See Kasparov/Forbidden Knowledge) and you won't be the last. This is a learning experience and if you handle it well, it will greatly mature your leadership abilities.

Hated from the clan? I didn't mention our conversation to anyone else in my clan, nor do I speak for them. If anyone dislikes you, it's for their own reasons, not anything I said to them.

Platinum, I don't really recall much about you but I think we've played a few times. You're fine in my books. Sounds like you're just getting burnt out - it happens to the best of us, especially when we tend to deep-dive into anything that interests us.

It's a necessary life skill, being able to ask yourself whether you can sustain something going forward and future-plan it, not just in-the-moment. You'll learn it because you'll keep getting kicked in the face like this until you do :)

Ultimately, it's just a game. Consequences are minimal. Maybe a few people get upset, but no big deal. It's not like this was your livelihood or your family, etc. And yet it's very good practice for the real world, since the lessons learned here very much apply.

Best of luck to you. It'll work out. One of the best things I learned was that when you get overwhelmed like this you need to perform brutal triage - drop everything that isn't essential and pick up the pieces once you have bandwidth to consider them again. Whether that means surrendering games or even just getting booted because you don't have the energy to consider it, whatever. Focus on what's important for yourself and your future.

Also, if you'd like, hit me up for some casual games. Set the boot timer to 30d or some such so that you really can just come to it when you have the time to do so.

As for your events...

1) Quality, not quantity. Yea, you made many events, but how many you will successfully manage till the end? I once made a thread where I tried to list all the events that happened on Warlight. Most were never finished, some not even started... The more events you create, the more likely most of them will fail. Focus on one, two.

2) Also, I think all of your events had rather short incubation (preparation) time, at least compared to other events. This mean some players did not have enough time to figure out all rules, what exactly the event is about, or if they want to play (especially the team/clan ones). Make sure all rules are clear. Info about when event is going to start / happen is very important.

3) Last, participation. I mean the people who joined. Most of them are active forum users I assume? Which is totally fine, but for some people it mean they won't play because of that, the event is "not pro enough" for them, they will rather play something else. Think what kind of event you want to manage, if it's open for all players, with no selection, do not give it so presumptuous name. It might be good idea to check whether the name was used before. Some players don't like that.

Same might be aplied to your own games. Play settings you like to play, not many that you don't know yet (not many at once), play only when you know you have time / will to play them (plan ahead), play with / against the people you want to play.

I hate kids too, but as long as they don't hug me or scream for no reason I'm letting them be.

I was glad to join 101st recruited by Platinum few weeks ago, and even team up with him on 2v2 ladder. Now, he is booted in two of the games we are in... that is somewhat dissapointing.
