Now i know that certain rivalries between clans exist. *cough* wolves and falcons *cough*. however, i think warlight might benefit from some more purely competitive clan rivalries because despite there being a strong connection between players inside clans, the same can't really be said about intra-clan stuff. I'm also perfectly aware of the clan vs clan games that occur on a regular basis but they usually don't mean all that much. Some proper, more permanent rivalries between certain clans i reckon will serve to make clans more connected with eachother as well as bring clan members closer together through a common cause.
Thoughts?

Despite the fact that unofficial tournaments (clan league), competitions or interclan games exist, something is still missing in Warlight, you already may know the existence of ladders, why not set up a kind of "clan ladder" with an official competition supported by Warlight and a clan ranking from it? This would be at least a good thing for competitive clans. That Warlight shows interest about clan's stuff and rivalries. We desperately need these new updates. Many other things could be also done.

Currently only one ranking exists: you find it in the clan listing, the first clan is currently the Darklords, but I think it does not reflect at all an accurate ranking (it ranks clan upon clan members' levels added together, so if the Darklords have 400 members mainly with inactive people, they would be above in the ranking compared to way more competitive clans, you see the problem now?).

You could talk about your idea during FIzzer's "ask anything" session? That would be nice.

Someone should make a thread where the history of each clan rivalry is recounted in detail as well as firsthand accounts from both sides.

It would also be really neat if as part of the thread above(or even a separate thread) told the origins of each clan. Members can tell the history and making of their clan and the major events that have shaped it since. it would be a good opportunity to shine light on lesser known groups and untold stories.

Angry Panda, thats actually a really bloody good idea, brings in that new element to warlight without having too massive a change to the system. shall definitely bring that up in the next session

If there were actual interest in the clan histories and rivalries, the Juggernauts have a pretty interesting past that I know of, and it was around for a year or two before I joined.

The only problem with the clan rivalries is that the ones I have seen so far usually wind up turning into clan alliances.

Panda and HomeLess both have brilliant ideas. I'd love to learn the history of CORP. Really the four major events that have happened since I've been here is

1) The attempted coup by The Lone Wolf.

2) Loli's hentai dojo.

3) The attempted coup by Achilles.

4) Recovering from half of CORP's management leaving in less than a day.

I'd really like to know the difference between new CORP, and old CORP, and the entire history of it.

Ox, CORP is way older than that (perhaps 3 years old now), we revived it along with 3-4 other guys some months ago (the 4 points you talked about are just for the oldest one 2 months old).
While Kazuki was alone keeping CORP for more than a year, me, Death (we miss you!!) and Andrés were the ones to convince Kazuki to relaunch CORP again after we left After_Dark, looking for a fresh start.

I actually know almost nothing about the ancient CORP, only that the famous Lawlz may have been the founder and that many members joined it but then left (from CORP many clans may have been created like the LN clan). You have many older threads in CORP's forum that attest what CORP was before. Kazuki knows certainly some of its older history.

CORP history to my knowledge, and from my perspective (so likely focuses a lot more on things where I was involved, and in no way neutral):

Based on forum posts:
- founded by a group of people including UnlimitedLawlz, led by UnlimitedLawlz

- Lawlz creates the original CORP Clan Blacklist, although this one just required profile links and not games/threads for verification

- Lawlz has issues with leadership, being too aggressive, and after some drama, steps down

- Kazuki takes over at this point, iirc

- Clan revives 4 months later, dies again

- One more short revival

- Clan acquires Japanese theme somewhere around here

Based on what I've heard from Panda:
- After_Dark collapses due to drama, members flock over to CORP (revived again)

My knowledge:
- Falcons and Wolves also undergo drama, some of their members (including me) shift to CORP

- Kazuki becomes less active and Panda runs the clan

- Death goes inactive

- I propose a Clanwide Blacklist, creating our most active forum thread

- after mulling over the idea for a while, Panda decides to make some people Gunjikomon, including new recruits like me and The Lone Wolf, as well as the older members. Gunjikomon chat reaches 20 members or so. MR in about 10 hands.

- In late May or early June, we have a coup and spend 10 hours guessing the culprit (in Panda's crisis chat) until believing it was The Lone Wolf (as the apparent player with MR looked like it might be his alt)

- with accusations left and right, Kazuki made a smaller crisis chat with him and 6 other people

- Thanks to Panda, Tjoex, and others, MR come back to Kazuki

- closest thing to a rivalry at this point: Colonel PMs Panda with a threat from the Falcons (and Wolves?) because we'd apparently taken too many of their members

- New Gunjikomon Council established using the people from the small crisis chat

- Dojo system established, along with CSL and a new strategic side of the clan that was responsible for 80-90% of growth in June/July

- With support from Kazuki and Panda, Loli establishes the Loli/Hentai Dojo and advertises on forum claiming CORP to be perverts

- Loli posts hentai on the forum; according to Panda, this was also done with his and Kazuki's encouragement (I can provide a screenshot of this if he claims he didn't say this), but Kazuki said he just allowed the dojo

- Loli Dojo never meets the minimum membership requirement to become official

- Scorpio and Hyaku-men reach the minimum 7 members around the same time and become the first two dojos

- Juq makes a post about us on the Clans Forum which we manage to frame into a debate about the Japanese flag since we knew that was an easy argument to win on (framing the debate, after all, is about over-weighing arguments you know you can win on)

- Maelstrom messages us on behalf of TLW seeking an inter-clan partnership. CORP didn't really have any serious clan diplomacy (as that's really a meaningless activity), but I guess you can say the clan entered friendly relations with TLW at that point. In any case, this began a long string of interclan games, with clans like USSR, WU, FBG, Falcons, Olympus, etc.

- Around two weeks after the incident, Loli is finally voted out of the clan on a 4-1 (with me dissenting after flipping my vote 4 times). Panda initiated the resolution after Loli violated an agreement, from his perspective (the agreement itself was unclear- Panda said it was not to post on the forums in relation to the clan, Loli and Kazuki thought he was just not to be pervy in relation to the clan on forums).

- Around this time, Kazuki (after talking to me and Panda about it), readmitted The Lone Wolf into the clan. Panda was the most reluctant, while I was in favor since I didn't know whether we could actually pin the blame on TLW.

- Panda and most of the GC become less active. No resolutions were passed from this point until last week or so when Panda came back.

- I take over most of the clan's operations. Under BigMeck, Scorpio grows massively, growing the clan with it. It becomes the first (and to this date, only) dojo of the month, with the Clan Icon changed to the Scorpio Dojo flag ("designed" by me as well, with BigMeck's feedback and ideas)

- CCL happens... But doesn't really happen

- As July begins, Achilles gets mad at Kazuki for talking about him in the clan chat and takes over the clan, leaving only himself and {CORP} Shogun with MR.

- I surprisingly easily manage to get MR back and then take them away from Achilles and give them to Kazuki

- Achilles turns out to only have given them up so easily as he had Kazuki's password and takes over again

- While I'm pissed AF, Kazuki calls Achilles (his IRL friend) and agrees to give Achilles some thing and let him keep his MR if he gives the clan back.

- Achilles retreats back to inactivity

- I quietly take away Achilles' MR

- Scorpio's growth slows down and CSL1 goes on hiatus as I gear for my current vacation

- CSL2 project begins, still in progress

- CSL2 quietly divorced from CORP. Instead of making a new CSL, I begin working on a CLOT-alternative called the Community Supported League framework (also CSL).

- the July Dojo of the Month vote fails to happen in a timely fashion, standing at 1-0 for Hyaku-men (me) by the time the GC collapses

- CSL is back up as you (Ox) run it

- Panda comes back and adds Loli back into the clan as its 98th member

- I resign from the GC. Des leaves the clan, I follow, and then Panda quits too in order to avoid After_Dark-style drama.

- Kazuki adds you (Ox) and Prabster, as well as Andres, to the new GC after some discussion in the GC chat where I tell him the main reason I resigned was because I'd been telling him to add more active leaders for weeks but he'd just been ignoring me and that Ox should've been added weeks ago (he'd also thought about adding Ox). Some reform happens.

- at this point, my knowledge of CORP ends as we arrive at the present

Nothing to do with clan rivalries (few clans actually have them, I'd bet), really, and not that exciting, but just decided to share what I knew to sort of help answer Ox, even though he's been in CORP as long as I have.

Knyte,

We used to play 90% of our games in diplo/RP games and we had many nice template and scenario creators (Lionheart for example who left some months ago), before you came, most of us werent interested a lot about the competitive part, despite the fact we had some people playing in ladders. We also played many games with other RP clans (unfortunatly they are fewer now).

I cannot let you say that this is a "meaningless activity", all isnt about competition in Warlight, you are here to have some fun and play with some good people who share the same passions (for example game of thrones RP games, I had very good moments with people such as Dameon one of the best map maker who made pratically all the GOT maps in this game).

You may not be a very good connoisseur of this kind of games, I did not saw you playing these games a lot truth be told, but many people here enjoy playing diplo/RP games, I invite you to know them more.

I wasn't referring to diplo games but rather stuff like being "at war" with the Falcons or DARKLORDS (without any accompanying action other than clan drama or NationStates-style hijacking attempts).

Keep in mind that I set up our interclan diplos for the past few months (TLW, USSR, Falcons, W.U., as well as the rp one in the works), so it's in fact quite unfair to accuse me of trying to turn CORP into a purely strategic clan.

As for the other personal accusations about me not playing diplos: a brief look at my profile shows you that I've played at least 150-200. Moreover, I refined/remade your British Isles template and made at least 10 games on that alone. You just didn't see much because you didn't even really know me while I was in CORP (you might remember saying as much in your post about expanding leadership) and you were gone when my activity peaked. During my time as Gunjikomon, CORP grew as a RP clan as much as it grew as a strategy clan, and motivated RPers were given just as much respect as motivated strategists.

The nostalgia is quite misplaced- CORP might've lost Lionheart and other players from the old days, but it's gained people like Ox who I'd wager are at least as good. Hell, I even decided to make a whole map for clan diplos (stalled due to vacation and then, y'know, the whole leaving the clan part). Just because you weren't here doesn't mean it didn't happen.

And even as my interests have shifted heavily toward strategy in recent months: come on. After that British Isles game in which I rallied for the extermination of your Cornish realms, you should remember full well that I play diplos.

Edit: as far as a Clan Ladder goes, one is in the works on my end as part of CSL2

I would have enjoyed to finish that British Isles diplo we made, unfortunately I had to stop playing for a while but indeed it was a fun game, and I thank Apollo for this amazing map he made again.
As for the rest truth be told I did not play good diplos for a while, many of us retired already, and the age of big RP games in RT seems to have come to an end... I did not play a lot of game with you sadly but you are right we had nice moments during that British Isles diplo.

I've been manager of three clans, so I know some things.

The Lost Wolves

*Started as a protest against Roman Clan's dictatorial rule.

*Keyes, Godkung and a few others buy their own clan - TLW.

*This clan does not really have democracy, either, for now.

*I came into the clan.

*Dom leaves the clan.

*Semicedevine spam posts frequently on the forum - TLW reputation starts to sink at this point.

*Eventually, Semicedevenie stops spamming due to our prodding, though TLW reputation is unrecoverable.

*Rival clans are made, most notably, the Falcons, led by Colonel Harthacanute.

*I gain manager rights.

*Strong hatred begins between TLW, the Falcons and even After_Dark (which was a rival clan to the Falcons).

*I try to calm down this hatred, and while I succeed on Falcons' side, Wolves are still angry runts.

*I negotiate with Harthacanute about joining Falcons.

The Royal Falcons

*I come into Falcons with manager rights, as I was a defecting noble and not to be treated lightly.

*The members of what is now the Poon Squad join in, causing much turbulence. They leave in a couple of days.

*Calls for democracy are made, which we oblige to.

*Me and Harthacanute are toiling away on these constitutions.

*I leak a TLW council vote to the Falcons to vote on.

*TLW order me and Harthacanute out, which some sillily oblige to. We got in after a couple hours, and say "War? You removed us because of the threat of war? If they want war, they're going to get smashed!"

*I ask Kazuki if I can join CORP (back when it had 4 members) - though he dissuaded me, I sparked the idea of reviving CORP.

*Clan is hijacked, eventually revealed to be hijacked by Semicedevine.

*After a while, we manage to negotiate his removal as long as Harthacanute does not get MR.

*lol we give Harthacanute MR anyway.

*I am getting tired of the members of the Falcons and I get into a couple disputes with Harthacanute and Thomas and I notice an invitation to join CORP (now that it's big).

*I leave Falcons and join CORP for a day. Then I realise how much it stinked and rejoined Falcons.

*The ruling class gets along better, we get some constitutions out, with not really much approval.

*I start talking to zxctycxz about joining After_Dark, zxctycxz is for.

*I announce my leaving for the After_Dark clan and leave.

*Others leave out of desperation - I was missed for a while.

After Dark

*I join After_Dark. Poseidónas makes a big purge of all the inactive members (60%), leaving only me and a couple others.

*Poseidónas sees fit to give me manager rights and shortly after, he semi-retires.
