For the record as an Atheist, I cannot hold office in 8 states in the USA, am forced to recognize the existence of God through the pledge, and find a mandated moment of silence another christian oppression amongst other things. Separation of Church and STATE!

One does not have to say the pledge at all. And a moment of silence is not restricted to prayer only.

Aristotles may have not gone very far with his obversation of nature. Some may say is because he lacked tools to measure things but it is possible to end up in same boat.

A very crude empirism example is colors. Either colors only exist as images of what we see, experience, or it is just waves that have no meaning. Both cases are extreme.

Its rude to talk about it, everyone has their own beliefs, something my own father told me when I asked him about religion was "Who knows what religion is right or wrong, for all we know some small tribe in the middle of Australia has the right one."

What a rude thing to say! I'm extremely offended by that comment! If we're not free to talk about religion, how are we going to make fun of all the ridiculous religions out there? If we can't make fun of all the ridiculous religions, then how will most people, who are religious by mere accident of birth-place/birth-family, know that the religion they rarely-if-ever felt safe enough to question their whole life is worthy of serious question and doubt? How will they learn that it's a good and healthy thing to have fun ridiculing the ridiculous?

Why, it's an insult to the very idea that people should be free to think for themselves and question everything; an idea which I hold in very high esteem, certainly as high as anyone who believes in a ridiculous religion holds their own religion in high esteem. I can barely express how offensive that comment is!
