I think the community deteriated a lot not too long ago but has gotten better. I would guess the game itself has been strong consistently though

@Ben: Yes, I was thinking about his designation of a pretty standard Imperium Romanum template (not Guiroma as I hadn't learned about Guiroma yet, but still a template I use in CSL and swiped from a good few tournaments; statistically, it's doing almost as well as Guiroma as a CSL template) as a "daemonic template."

But that's not all of it though. There are people whose sole goal in this game is to get manager rights in a Clan, or people who just try to "win" unbalanced diplos.

I don't get why people would want to do that. Like, where's the fun in that? What game are they even playing?

Pretty sure Fizzer cares a LOT about the Warlight. It's just a pretty massive task. All games eventually die, just like all bleeding eventually stops and taxes are eventually due. It's nothing new. Warlight is still hanging in there. Toward the end of summer online games pick up again, right now is their downtime (and a brief period in the fall). Play until you're done with it, then stop playing. Don't worry about the other factors. Personally, I'm here for the team games, 2v2 and 3v3 primarily, usually RoR. There are almost always 3-4 games from which to choose. It's been that way ever since I came over here from Kongregate where I used to play it. The game is alive. Kongregate's demo version has died, but it's going strong enough here to sate my occasional interest.

Right. Fizzer has been developing things for WL pretty well. He added CLOTs, now sockets, and Coin Games and a lot of other things. As long as the metacommunity is still around to rant about clan leadership, we don't need to worry about losing the actual Warlight community.

Well at the moment, Warlight is inactive. No games made by users at all.. As far as I know Warlight does get boring for players as they go on as they find it repetitive... I think only diplomacy games keep people in Warlight..

Still, Fizzer tends to completely ignore the community and their suggestions, some of which he might benefit a lot from. (Must I remind you all of Warzone?)

And Warlight hasn't seen any real, new, major features for as long as I've been around.

^ Enabling sockets is a pretty sweet feature.

That said, if Fizzer wants cool stuff to happen, he needs to open up the API to non-members and instead open up warlight to more developers.

Epicular, you're right, definitely nothing new since you joined... Definitely no new ladder (real time), game modes (coins), play style (no split) or cards (bomb). Nothing new at all and certainly not countless minor adjustments to improve gameplay

@Ben: There's no way to damage the site just by being able to make API calls as long as proper restrictions are placed (which don't exist right now- if a Member wanted to, they could do significant damage to Warlight or at least to a set of players).

I see no good reason to make people pay to access the API unless Fizzer intends to keep the API very underpowered (I'm pretty sure even the Yo API does more than the Warlight APIs right now) and not, y'know, working like an actual API. Warlight has a strong developer community- just look at the people playing in the Warlight AI Challenge- and it should leverage it to create growth.

Most people I play with I haven't played with before. That's the difference. Lack of community.

Oh really? A new game mode that will get Fizzer more money? A card that probably took 10 minutes to program?
