It will be inevitable that Humans and Machines will merge. In order to survive for the Next Millennium or the Next Million Years, we need to merge with Machines to enhance our Capabilities such as in Technology and others

don't want to merge with machines ... they will rust and abrade someday

scientists find out how our brain works. Then they know how to activate the rest of the brain's activity. And then the humanity find viable planets and how to reach them ...

For me it will be the full transisting of human minds into computers. It's already started with simple worm brains, and it works... It's viable, we just need computers strong enough to emulate a whole human brain. Shouldn't take too long, few decades maybe. Exciting! :)

It just makes me sad when a great mind dies, like recently say Terry Pratchett or Leonard Nimoy, before we get the chance to upload them :(

PS. I am a scientist

that is fascinating. i like bionics very much. there are already crazy things in technology which are very useful because all technologies from the nature are optimized to our environment. but i think in longlonglonglongterm it is inevitable that we have to leave our planet someday. Therefore are no examples in our nature :(

Obi, you realize we are constantly using our entire brain, right? For the most part, every part is responsible most for a major category, such as vision, but almost every part pitches in a little bit for every thing. It's people like you that are caught in the middle between the correct idea of the brain, and the stupid media's distorted "brain".
