Like, if you were to declare your house as a sovereign nation, the U.S. won't recognize it. It doesn't matter if you say you're a country. Just because you say you are a country doesn't make you a country. You belong to the state/providence you live in. Sovereign state-hood is earned with war, etc.

On the other hand, you could just play on maps where the map maker recognizes your country. Then it wouldn't matter.

That's why it's best to paint it how it is. There are several countries that claim to be countries but have no military control over what they claim. But if you manage to blatantly not pay taxes to another country and have your own military and are over 500 folk, that's country enough for me.

There's no need to be divided over who recognises what, just show the world how it is. A Pakistani will not put Armenia on the map. A ROC player will not put PRC or Mongolia on the map (and take pieces of other countries).

The Republic of Kosovo is treated as a separatist entity, due to it not having full military control over it's borders or international recognition.

Over half of the nations in the world/the UN (111/193(or ~200 including nations not in the UN, of which there are very few)) recognize Kosovo. It's not in the United Nations because Russia and China do not recognize it, even if they're part of the minority.

This is round one, technically. Because this is the first empire league, there is nobody to challenge existing countries as there is no existing countries. In the future, you will be able to challenge somebody for control over a certain piece of territory.

The second round will begin after the 29th of June 2015.
