The brain isn't used for memory alone. Memory, if I remember correctly, is stored in neural pathways and it's very different from the way we store memory in computers because you basically replay the pathway every time you remember something- i.e., you actually revise your memory every time you remember something. That's one of the big reasons why memory (especially in the form of witness testimony) is extremely unreliable.

As far as whether someone could potentially use up all of their "memory storage" within an average lifespan, I can't comment on it since I'm not actually a neuroscientist. I'd reason that this is theoretically possible, but I see where you're coming from in your argument against phrenology- given that we revise memory and don't store most events in memory, the likelihood of us actually reaching a memory cap could potentially be very low (again, I don't know whether it actually is, although perhaps it could be an issue because we're obviously very selective about how we store memory) and space limitations won't matter.

However, the clearer issue is that brain size has literally nothing to do with intelligence, at least in a decipherable way. We used to look at brain size as a way of distinguishing human species from others- first we started looking at raw brain size because of the simplicity. But reasoning along those lines, elephants have larger brains than us but (as far as we can observe) aren't actually smarter. So we shifted to brain size relative to body size, but that also led to some observably false conclusions.

Brain size is complex and not well-understood and to indicate that intelligence is a function of brain size disregards decades- if not centuries- of scientific observations.

Maybe, people recreate the memory many times as they want to think, they do not remember accurately and invent things, and in the end they think it's real...
So, if is probably would not be limited, based on what the gaps?

@Elroi: I have absolutely no idea, although I'm going to guess that it's because centuries of colonial attitudes aren't easy to reverse in decades, especially when discrimination persists.

There definitely are examples of "scholarly culture" within African societies- look at Nigerians, for example- they're to Africa what the Indians and Chinese are to Asia. And of course, historically, we have things like Timbuktu. African civilization was far from mud huts for millennia as it's classically portrayed by racists.

Also, just to be on the safe side of this conversation, since I don't touch Critical Race Theory (literally all my critical knowledge is Foucault and Zizek, so I'm not well-versed in critical theory by any stretch of the imagination), I'm going to completely avoid any critical arguments and focus on what I can understand as someone who's utterly detached from the humanities and beyond joyous that I won't have to worry about anything beyond the basics of that arena for the entirety of my human life.
