As did I, but I don't know what's bothering people. I think it's that a lot aren't even aware it's happening, or can't be bothered to sign up. There's scores of people who have told me they'll submit a team, thusfar have not.

I think a big problem is the total disarray of the forums. EVERYTHING gets buried on here. I can see things easily because I am using that ignore thread filter. But when I log on at home these forums still look like a disaster and I cannot find anything.

The RT part could be a factor though. I know a few people on my team probably won't be able to do it. And if it were not for the RT portion, we'd simply have 3 people, not 6. If you eliminated RT, you'd probably have a lot more teams because you wouldn't need all the alternates.

I'm not saying that is what SHOULD be done, I get the RT aspect of it. But that is a big part IMO.

You know, the initial rt argument was the length of the event and the length of the event is dependent upon the number of participants. It's not too late to reconsider full md if that'd bring at least a few more teams.

Food for thought

This respects vacations, right? If so, then no team would need more than 3 players and we'd probably have almost double the teams.

Is there a way we can play more games at once and not have RT? I'm good with that to get it done faster.

well, those two things are the reason why we have a low amount of teams.

If we ever got a setting to allow for a teammate to take over for boot, then we'd get a solution to vacations.

@Szeweningen: The argument of RT is not only length of the event, it's also streamability. I want to be able to have consistent games to cover twice a week. Also if we make it MD, we'll get more teams then the series will last even longer, to the point I wouldn't be able to control the event to be finished within a year. (Take Clan League for example. Great event, lasts almost an entire year sometimes). Sure we could do vacations off, but with the volumes of games and the fact some people will prefer to take their full 3 days, a 10-turn game turns into a 30-day game. Even if I started all the games at the beginning of the event, the load would be too heavy, and there's still no guarantee that a game won't last 18 turns, which is almost 2 months. I cannot stream consistently like that.

I really do need it RT for pacing and to be able to stream. If we want competitive events like this streamed, then we're going to need more players willing to play RT.

@Chris: Alternates are used for almost every competitively streamed team game, so even if all 6 of you could play RT on the days described, you deserve the right to switch out players. It's the same for sports. Maybe Warlight isn't ready for this kind of an event, but just counting from the top clans (those in A) we have this many active competitive players: ~126. These are also people who are logged in, today. That's 21 teams if all take 6 people in. We're not even counting those who are semi-competitive who could actually play in this series and do well. (3 teams in my mailbox are not part of what we'd consider top competitive clans. Infact one is from a clan we consider to be trolls, but they seem to be more serious members from it.)

No one from GG has joined, from Lynx we have 1 alternate, none from warlighters/french, 1 from AHoL, and 1 from blitz so far. These guys have all played the template ;/. Idk what's really stopping them.

I think the timing of the event is odd. It seems strange to have it now, as opposed to wait for summer break.

Also when the games are played is offputing.

(Refresher)

"Game 1 will be played on Tuesday @ 17:00 GMT-8 for North America region and 17:00 GMT for Europe region. Game 2 will be played on Thursday at the same times. Broadcasts will be on Wednesday and Friday @ 12:00 GMT - 6. "

The timing simply don't fit. I would imagine very few can be home at 5 on a weekday (+/- a few hours for some), and if they can the inconvenience is not worth it. (Why place it in the middle of dinner/family time for many timesones?)

Now ofc finding a (semi) global time is difficult. If it was up to me I would have it on Saturdays, around lunch time. But that is just speaking for me, no clue if this applies to more people. And I would also reduce it to 1 RT game a week.

I put it on weekends, and people will complain they have activities scheduled for the weekends. The times I placed it at I specifically asked people constantly for about a week, they told me they'd be willing to play after getting off work. Shall I re-ask everyone?

Maybe conduct a poll? Since Fizzer's involved in supporting this, maybe it could be an official poll where you can only vote once per account?

I've got my team registered. I feel like if people knew who was registered they could realize that they should too. If their clan mates have a team and then they want to compete or if a GG guy thinks that a WG team shouldn't win he could make a team...... If we knew the teams we could get some rivalry and hype for this. We need suspense or something to get people motivated to enter/compete.

Edit: I've done the best job I can with the better players from the North American and surroundings area.

Our team is ChrisCMU, Falker, Summer, CHRIS, Tenshi, Andersault

Like I said we need a bigger team because of the RT/vacation rules. And Tenshi/Andersault only said they could play as alternates anyway.

I can`t speak for others, but the reason I won`t join is simple:

Game 1 will be played on Tuesday @ 17:00 GMT-8 for North America region and 17:00 GMT for Europe region. Game 2 will be played on Thursday at the same times. Broadcasts will be on Wednesday and Friday @ 12:00 GMT - 6.

Those times are impossible for me. I can imagine they are for other players as well.
(Althought I might be wrongly assuming that I would get past stage 1 :p)

EDIT:
I put it on weekends, and people will complain they have activities scheduled for the weekends. The times I placed it at I specifically asked people constantly for about a week, they told me they'd be willing to play after getting off work. Shall I re-ask everyone?

For most of the people I know 17.00 isn`t when they are at home ready to play. Most people (at least in my group of friends) come home between 17.30 en 18.30 and want to have dinner first. I`m still in school and the times I`m home combined with homework I rarely am done before 19.00
I do understand the problem of playing in the weekends. Often people have activities scheduled or are not willing to spend multiple weekends in a row playing a game

So I would do it later on weekdays. Starting around 18.30-19.00 seems better to me.

Yeah, the time is a huge issue for me (USA Mountain Time). I can't normally play at 6pm, I have kids that go to bed at 8pm. I sure hope 3 people from my team can play then. What I might do is just go in late to work and play while at work, I don't know.

I also don't understand why you are doing the SAME time on T/Th. Why not play at a different time in hopes other people on your team can play (if they have that conflict 1 day, they are likely to have it on another day too)?

What if all games were simply MD, but shorter boot times? Like maybe 1.5 days? I totally understand how the total length of the even is the issue, we are just trying to see if there is a way to make it easier on people to participate.

I am having trouble visualizing the format of stages. I understand this part...

1st Stage: Regional Double Elimination Tournaments (Boot time will be 1 day 4 hours with vacations not honored)

2nd Stage: 2-game Round Robin Tournaments per week. (5 minute + 10 minute banked boot times)
Game 1 will be played on Tuesday @ 17:00 GMT-8 for North America region and 17:00 GMT for Europe region. Game 2 will be played on Thursday at the same times. Broadcasts will be on Wednesday and Friday @ 12:00 GMT - 6.

But not this part (item 8)...

8. The bottom 2 performing teams will be forced to repeat the 1st stage, while ranks 3-6 or 3-8 (depends on how many apply/are in the 2nd stage) will be re-invited to the 2nd stage for the next world championship.

Lolo-

What does that mean repeat 1st stage? Does that simply mean for next season, the bottom teams must start at stage 1 again, but the others will bypass that round? What if the teams change (I assume the team may change composition in some format by that time).

Lets just assume we have 6 teams in each region, what does that look like for stage 1 and 2 formats?

@Chris: It means exactly what it says. The teams who are in the top 6 out of 8 will be invited to play the series again next year and skip the 1st round. There's really not many rules in place for this because in the competitive scene you'd be a team that's sponsored etc, but in this case I would consider the captain to be the most important part. The captain either needs to stay or sign off on a new captain taking over the team.

With 6 teams each region we'd skip the stage 1.

What players are signed up? When is the new deadline? Why must an awesome thread like this get buried? Why does Fizzer and Mercer not care about how organized and important the forums are?
