Now I've been playing this game since I got introduced to it in freshman year of high-school by a few people in the class. That was over four years ago (my previous account was @cerealFish or something like that if you want to check the join date) and I have seen a rise in people using AI Generated images and text all over this site. You can find AI Generated text and images in half the clans in this game.
I've been pretty disappointed seeing all of this but it hasn't given me a strong urge to quit. Then I realized that fizzer is using ai generated images as icons for mods. Now I just don't want to keep playing this game.
Lots of people will probably read this and think "wow this guy is another one of those people that hate ai for no reason!" but I feel like theres nothing more that says you don't really commit to or care about this community as including ai generated images and text into things such as clan pictures, clan descriptions, or the mod thumbnails.
I could go over all of the reasons why I believe AI is not really a good thing and should not be associated with this game, but I don't think I can explain it as good and accurately as other people who make entire videos on this sort of thing, so I will link videos and explain what it covers.
And I really don't like to kick up dust and make a forum post that will likely get people agitated, but this is a big deal to me.
Also to note... Generative AI is the problem, not to be confused with other AI systems that are helpful and don't impede humanity

Other issues I didn't put videos on here is how lots of money and resources are put into making AI (because greedy investors think that if you can make an AI do everything an employee/freelancer can do, they won't have to pay for them, which puts people out of jobs and replaces quality for quantity), AI can be used to harass people (often by generating explicit photos of them), and people can depend on AI so much to the point where they lose critical thinking skills because they ask AI everything so much.

If you are for generative AI and think it is a good thing, think about this. Imagine your partner writes you a message about every detail that they like about you, and you cherish it for a long while, you keep it and think about it often. Then you find out later that your partner wasn't the one that wrote it, they just wrote "write me a letter to my partner" into a prompt. To think that this community is building themselves off of AI generated texts and images just doesn't feel good to me.

Is just wrong, moders pick their own images and icons. But yes, the trend of generated content across the web seems unlikely to go away :/ Tricky, when the Gen. AI is jus better at some tasks then what a random person is.

I agree with TBest, as a mod creator i dont mind using AI to create images. It is either using AI for it, or to search the web for a free image somewhere.

And since searching the web until you have found a good image that captures what you want to show can take a lot of time, I get it why people opt for it.

I do want to note that a lot of the images in the game can be found on game-icons.net, a place where also a lot of mod images are taken from (units and icons mostly), but recent images are probably made by AI indeed

It’s been genuinely disheartening to see generative ai be used on this site. It makes the game feel soulless.

In mods that I made, I even include raw card images, just so that people can verify that images in my mods are actually made by a human. From my own experience before I knew of ethical issues around the use of AI, it uses out of date or incorrect data, which results in bad code. It doesn't understand Warzone's Mod API. AI is better suited for short, well-known algorithms, instead of large portions of code.

Human made works should always be preferred over somewhat legalised theft that is of worse quality.
