Again, you are throwing out claims with no backup. How is he acting facist "a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government" or "very harsh control or authority" As he is not doing anything like that.

That is not ironic as one of the definitions of prejudice is "a feeling of like or dislike for someone or something especially when it is not reasonable or logical" But what you were going for was this sense of the word "an unfair feeling of dislike for a person or group because of race, sex, religion, etc." He is not showing this sense of prejudice. I have a strong dislike towards people who advocate censorship of this nature.

There is genuine research that has been conducted showing that homosexuality is also socially influenced and that the genetic factors may not play as large a role as geneticists would have us believe. If we allow ourselves to believe that "we can't control" impulses and we advocate that form of thinking, then it will only be a matter of time before governments use that as an excuse to control every aspect of our lives for the sake of stability and security. Think of the long term repercussions of your actions.

For more details on that please do your own research, I advocate the right to not have to spoon feed you information.

I think this hate on heterosexuals who refuse to condone homosexuality as disgusting as hate on homosexuals. While Christians/Muslims/Jews cannot budge on their belief that homosexuality is a sin, that doesn't give them the right to pass judgement. Judge not, least you be judge. One sin isn't better or worse than the other.

Don't turn this into an excuse to bash on the general religious community either, it just turns people who would have otherwise accepted or even supported you, away.

I certainly am serious. extremely serious. i live in indiana, i grew up in a small redneck town, i've seen the effects of bigotry. i've seen suspected gay people getting beat up for being gay. i've seen puny pathetic white kids saying if they saw a n****r they would hang them from a tree. they learned all this from their bigot dads who learned it from their bigot dads and so on back to the beginning of time. the things colonel has said are exactly the same things i heard from thousands of people growing up. and it's a mighty thin line from that kind of talk to "active harassment".

people with the exact same mindset vote for politicians that support sodomy laws and bans on gay marriage and civil unions in america. their types are the same types that behead homosexuals in muslim countries, send their sons and daughters to "therapy" to cure their "mental illness".

these same types of people are advocating castration, hormonal and physical, they are slaughtering homosexuals in africa and asia, and they are silencing homosexual and transgender voices all over the world.

and up until the past few decades the only voice allowed on the subject has been the voice of homophobia. now that more and more people are unafraid to speak up we are attempting to speak louder than the bigots, because that is the only way to get our ideas heard.

i would be perfectly happy if none of this was ever brought up on warlight. but when it is i feel a duty to humankind to speak up about it. if only because i truly believe with as much moral certainty as i can muster that the ideas of homophobia, racism, and sexism are extremely toxic to society and those ideas should be stopped from spreading.

I don't care if you think i'm serious, i'm not going to let a bunch of ignorant big headed people go on like this without telling them why they are wrong. I could just as easily have these conversations 1 on 1 in mail but this just to happens to be where we're talking. You can believe whatever you want, just as long as it doesn't impede on others rights. And i can kinda understand why religious people think gay people shouldn't get married. Think about it, marriage is done by a pastor or some shit and its supposed to be holy matrimony. blah blah blah. But in the end its basically a religious commitment, and religious people think gays aren't following the bible or whatever so they shouldn't be married by a bible. But what they fail to see is that most people don't even think about marriage like its religious. They just know they love each other and want to make it more than just partners. Then of course im sure a lot of you people just don't like gays and think they should have less rights. Which is discrimination. Discrimination is bad...

I agree with the original post except for ONE BLOODY THING. You speak of rationality and how rational people do not believe in the existence of God. However, that it untrue, there are billions of rational people in the world who believe in the existence of God. I do, I'm a Catholic. I also don't care if your gay. Be gay, its not my thing, I believe that you get into heaven all the same because If there is a god, he love all his creations if they are good in their lives. there shouldn't be pro or anti gay, its just gay. Be gay, whatever, I really just don't like when someones gay-ness is shoved in my face like "support me support me" No, support yourself. Because I have gay relatives and I had a gay friend( he moved to Texas, yeah Texas) And they don't shove it at you. Gays do not make their case by having weird orgy sex parades, be prideful in who you are, but I don't see a straight parade in Miami Beach, now do I? The issue in America and the Western(and well developed Eastern) World is that there is to much focus on the Gay part and less focus on the part that they are really just regular tax paying, law abiding citizens. I am ashamed of my political party the Republicans because they rely on the most fucked up book in the Bible to say that being gay is wrong. Leviticus also speaks about paying the church with a turtle on your period, so that book is a little weird. I believe that if Jesus were here today he would not care if you gay or straight, he would care that you lived your life fully and morally, and be a overall good person, regardless of who you love. Claiming to be gay isn't rational, neither is it being good in life. If a gay person does not express their feelings for other men, I believe they will be rewarded, not punished.

That's why I am not homophobic. I am against any expression of love between people who have the same sexual organs, and one expression of that is gay marriage, so I advocate the banning of gay marriages.

Its not a claim when its who you are Colonel? What if hypothetically we lived in a society where homosexuality was the norm and babies were genetically made by donors. All people were with people of the same sex and you wanted to be with women? How would you feel? What if that societies holy books or moral state banned being "gay" as the definition would be in that culture? How would you feel? oppressed? angry? upset? How would you feel when you told your parents this and they rejected you? You become a social outcast? Put yourself in someones shoes and walk a mile before you claim to finish the marathon. My friend you are among those who give us Christians and conservatives a bad name. You claim much, but support little, there should be no issue with a loving homosexual couple as long as they live morally? I hope that if Jesus, Mohammed, or Buddha was alive today, they would be upset you interpret religion so.

Julius, that entire vision is a nightmare. Not because of homosexuality, because of no natural children.

I think that if we held an *actual*debate, the issue of these things would be resolved without such constant conflict.

This would entail a committee selecting their speaker for their side, a set of 4 dialogues within a round, and a session of 4 rounds. Each side gets an equal budget of available characters, and equal amount of dialogues.
