A mega game with custom slots?: 2025-10-13 04:53:00

Hello!

I can’t quite grasp if this exists or not, on the warzonewiki it says that all megagames must be random distribution to “keep things fair.”

But then I stumbled on a forum post where someone else asked about a mega game with a custom scenario and Fizzer said “Yes that can be done.”

For context: I’m in a ~300 player game now. Once all the boots are done, most likely I’m guessing ~150 players will be dedicated players who stick around. Now, if we want to make this a legacy game, we buy the coins to make a mega game, but then how would we make a ~300 player megagame but put our ~150 players back in their original places from game 1.

So a mega game CAN be custom scenario, right? So whoever has the coins and hosts can just custom make 300 slots, and players can then enter-exit the lobby repeatedly until they get the slot that corresponds to their spot when game1 finished? And you just do that one-by-one with the original players and then open the game to the public lobby?

Or players can select AG or whatever and go back to their slot from game1?

Or is there literally no way to make a megagame a legacy game “just because”?

Because from what I understand this doesn’t seem like an engine issue, warzone would be capable of this pretty easily. This would really make a gigantic difference in the ability to host legacy games and be a huge plus for the WZ community, so I’m having trouble grasping how this isn’t possible. So now I’m here asking “maybe this is possible, I just don’t get it”

Thanks!

There are 400 slots in the custom distribution designer, so yes, you can use a custom scenario.

A quick test shows that upon starting a mega game with assigned slots, you get an error with "Custom Scenario Mega Games must use random slots. Set the slots to random and continue?".

That forces you to use the distribution option of "Give each player a random slot when the game begins".

So while you can have a custom scenario, you cannot assign any players to slots and must let WZ randomly assign the slots.

Ah I understand now, thank you so much for clearing it up. I know this is a bit of an albatross question, but just in case you do know - would this be some kind of engine thing that the game can’t handle, or is this a game-philosophy decision that would be the equivalent of a programming “flip of a switch”?

I wouldn’t want to ask fizzed to do any serious architecture work, but if this is just a gaming decision, I’d be happy to pay a certain amount for him to flip the switch. I have a few hundred game of thrones players who desperately need this particular feature.
