Hey, I am currently lvl 55, and when I join 1v1 ladder, it asks me the number of games I want at a time. Only options are 3, 4 and 5. May I know the reason why you have to join a minimum of 3 games at a time? And I doubt but can the option of 1 be unlocked if I reach a certain level?
The reason is I don't want to join 3, but only 1 game at a time.

I am unsure but I believe the minimum you can choose is 3 to ensure enough games/pairings can be made.
I remember wanting to play it and then not doing it since 3 games would be a lot for me a while ago as well.

Thanks for the reply, but can you expand on the reason? How/why does it ensure that?
Edit: a possible reason could be match fixing: a player with alt account could join the ladder at the same time with both accounts and win. But ladder is skill based so that wont work for long...

A big reason I only want to join 1 game is, the map is the same for all 3 games, which can be confusing.

The way pairing works is it takes a number of players participating to ladder and then checks whether there is an eligable opponent, then exclude some of these candidates based on some criteria, with one being "being on maximum number of games"

So I suspect allowing players to choose 1 or 2 games at a time restricts it too much.

Yeah I get it, the side effect would be: you might have to wait more after you complete a game versus always having at least one game.
But if a player is fine with that, they should have an option to do so.
Moreover, if this option is provided, maybe more players will play ladder, thus having a larger pool to select from, and not actually having to wait for a new game; at least not as long.

I would also really like to have the option to join the ladder with fewer than 3 games at any time. This is to keep my Dashboard list short, and be able to concentrate more on each game in this template (MME).

Three games at a time was already difficult with 3 days boot, so that I usually played 2 (or 1 if my games count was sufficient). 3 as a minimum with this new boot timer is prohibitive for me, and I am sure for many other working people too. This is only an add-on to the more fundamental problems the 1 v 1 Ladder has now (rating system).

If you had over 30 unexpired ladder games, you could select 1 or 2 in the past. Not sure if that's still the case
