Once again, congratulations to the whole Australia&New Zealand team for winning the 2025 season of Nations' Cup! And so we keep our tradition: with 7 editions finished so far, every one of them had a different winner!
Also big congrats to France for getting that silver medal, only barely losing that final 6:7. In total they now have 1 gold and 3 silvers. For comparison, some teams have a bunch of bronzes, but no team other than France managed to land top 2 even twice.
And now it's time for everyone's favourite…
The Dream Team of Nations' Cup 2025!
This time even more subjective than usual! Also we're ignoring all the qualifying games this time around.
So, who were the top players this season?
MoriOri ANZ With 10 wins and just 1 loss, MoriOri has by far the highest win rate of all the semifinalists. So close to a perfect run!
Vincent van Xeno aka Xenophon ANZ Win rate is not everything. It was Xeno who was trusted with playing extra games in the knockout rounds and if we look at the total number of wins, then Xeno crushes the opposition with his 12-2 record.
TheGreatLeon CAN But what if win rate WAS everything? Then the MVP award would surely go to TheGreatLeon. He won all 5 games in the main round and then all 3 in the quarterfinal, so 8-0 total. Who knows how many more wins he could have gotten if his team advanced even futher!
CONSEQUENCER aka alexclusive GER Looking at plain numbers will only get you that far. Alex with his 7-0 doesn't top any category, but these wins include two against ANZ and one against Poland, among others. Definitely MVP material.
rakleader FRA Honestly it's high time a French player got mentioned. Picked for the Dream Team of 2024 he makes the list again in 2025, and he's the only player to do so. France's top scorer finishes with 10 wins and 3 losses.
Texx ANZ If we include rakleader, we must include Texx as well. After all, it was his final win over rakleader that gave ANZ the trophy. Yeah, theoretically all points are worth the same. But not in terms on entertainment! For the last month, his game was the last game remaining and it was going to determine the winner. The pressure was huge and he did it! His total 8-3 W-L result isn't maybe as impressive, but he belongs to the team of 2025's shiniest stars.
Widzisz POL Why are we including a 7th player in the dream team? Because I say so. Most teams juggled through more than 6 players anyway. And we just included a bloke with an 8-3 record, so I'm including Widzisz and his 8-1 too. Especially since he was the only player who managed to beat MoriOri and this deserves a special mention.
Honorable mentions Phaeril was France's second best scorer with 9-3, thanks to an extra game in the semis. Perhaps not enough to make the cut, but still a step ahead of the other honorable mentionees. DannyB and Seraph (ANZ) both finished with 8-3, just as Texx. The same goes for France's Wazz. Two Hispanic players, Bahamut Rojo and Tukuro, first dominated the qualifiers (Hispanics were the best team there) and then went 5-0 in the main round. Unfortunately, their luck was screwed with the draw. They ended in one group with ANZ and FRA and failed to qualify futher. USA had neet (5-0), Saleen147 (5-0), Ares (6-1) and almosttricky (6-1). Too bad that they were split among multiple teams. Wini (POL) also scored a noteworthy 7-2. That's 18 players mentioned so far in total. So let's round it up nicely with two more. And looking purely at win-loss records, these players would be Netherland's Ursus (7-3) and Nordics' Hunta (5-2). And with that we even have all the quarterfinal teams have a representative in top 20. Perfect!
