Now, the new all skill based system has a few inherent flaws, one of which is demostrated in this game. In this game we both quickly figured out that it's probably advantageous for any of us to not get first pick, since then we get 2/3 first picks. Now, considering we both waited till basially the end, I got what I wanted just by clicking the "begin" button earlier. Ruthless Bastard suggested an easy solution, so that the player may pick whether he wants first pick or first order, that way we actually wouldn't have such ridiculous stalling matches on turn 1.

you mean on game settings or getting that option if you're the first to commit?

i reckon that with the later you might still have to play the waiting game, you're just turning it into a 50% probability of not getting your first pick even if the other guy picks first. would still lead to stalling on turn 1 for the more weary players, no?

I guess what Sze meant, is that the one, who pick first can choose whether he wants first on second pick. Sounds interesting for me.

It sounds good for this kind of situation, but otherwise could be pretty advantageous. Not only do they get to choose, but the slower picker doesn't know whether they are getting 1st or 2nd pick?

i was the first to say that. Often is better have 2/3 then 1st pick. Not only in SE 80 games, but in ME 180 games as well. For example, if there is a FTB, it's Always better pick second. In this way, you will get one territory of the FTB plus the other best place you want pick. (3rd pick)

@Sirius

the 2nd player (to commit picks) will often (not always) know if he will get 1st pick or not, and can adjust his picks accordingly. The first one to commit will not know that when he makes his picks. A possible solution to this would be to hide if your opponent have committed or not, that would not solve the problem szew mentioned though. However, the solution Ruthless Bastard suggest would solve both flaws.

very similar game,same flaw
it must be changed,or if not,maybe the distribution should not allow such picks,is that possible?

I have a question about how picking works. Lets say player 1 picks are territory A, B, and C in that order and player 2 picks A, D, and B. Player 1 get first pick. Will player 2 get territory B even though he ranked it #3 and player 1 ranked it #2?

@almosttricky
Here's now the picking works:
Player 1 gets first pick -> A
Player 2 gets his two next avaliable pics -> D + B
Player 1 gets his two next.. (and it keeps going until #picks is reached)
