Warlight is an iconic name, you google it and find it first always and on other game host sites, this being so much so that people have continually branded the name with this game, I just asked my friend what he thought was better Warzone or Warlight, he said Warlight as it sets it apart, not from just the sound of the name but description of the words. Its completely Unique.

Warzone is not an iconic name, you google it and find the wiki for a War zone, War Zone images, Warzone2100 an already established game, the film Warzone, a facebook page for Warzone, Warzone tower defence and even a reference to 'Mutant Chronicles Warzone Ressurection', the fact WarZone is already an actual term of a Battle field or theatre of War makes the name feel simple and lazy nothing inventive or unique already, as an comparison, World of Warcraft, very unique, World of Fantasy... yeah not so unique.

Warzone is a very tacky, basic, simple idea which most people would overlook when looking for a 'War' game to play, Warlight however is far more interesting and attractive as it questions what the game could be and therefore wishing to see and try it.

You say you have done Market research by asking people, who have you asked, more so, what kind of people have you asked, have you asked them unbiased questions, have you given them both names to decide upon, not just the one option of is this name good or bad, most people would be positive in that regard.

Fizzer, it is your game in the end and I'm here for my clan, the name change won't affect me but the positive points you'v made sounds like some unknowing financial backer has more or less told/informed you of a need to update your image (pointlessly) by changing name and Logo to make yourself more attractive, but not knowing the market which you appeal to.

I appeal to you to at least consult the community on it in an reasonable way, even if its just the moderators with their silly little crowns :)

I prefer Warlight over Warzone. Warzone sounds stupid.

Fizzer, good on you for not only creating a great game, but working so hard to improve it even after it is already an outstanding success. Everyone I've introduced this game to has loved it. As far as the name goes I think Warzone is pretty poor, but changing the name is not a bad idea as long as it is something unique and iconic. For the good of the game and the community, we cannot allow nostalgia to blind us to what could be solid improvements. (like the dashboard, which is great once you get used to it)

Whatever you change it to, I'm going to continue to play and promote this game. I will always think of it as Warlight with great fondness.

Wartactic or Warlite would be really cool. I don't really like Warzone, but the name change is needed for marketing aspects.

Maybe try out something like freeBJs.com or something like that. If you're gonna change the name of this game then lets really reel them in! Also, Fizzer should do whatever is in his best interests. I will not sign this.

Warlite.com seems the best option to appease both parties, unless the extra hits from other games are important to Fizzer + investor. Watered down version. 'lol'

Warlight's name has become iconic and unique. There isn't another Warlight out there (Of note atleast). However Warzone is just generic and bland. Search "Warzone" on Google and watch all the different results come up. I think the proposed changes will just have the opposite effect that you're looking for Fizzer.

Lots of us don't seem to understand the idea behind the petition. It's not trying to force Fizzer's hand nor is it saying he doesn't have control over his own game. You all just happen to come across something that dares to suggest an alternative and immediately resort to kissing up.

'WarZone' is a godawful, unoriginal and bland name that sounds like every kiddy shooter MMO ever. Also, Warlight has been around for five years! It's had lots of coverage as 'Warlight'! To change the name now?

I don't like the name but I support Fizzer.

I have no real love for the name "Warlight," in fact I thought it was kind of weird when I first saw it. Fizzer has every right to change it, and he probably should. But I just wanna add my voice to those who say that the name "Warzone" is just bad. It sounds like some 3rd rate game with uncreative designers just trying to make a quick buck. If I saw the name in an ad, I would just ignore it, assuming it was like all those other terrible games/scams I see ads for.

But then again... those ads are so common, I guess they must work? Maybe the name "Warzone" will attract more players. Just maybe not the kind of players that are here now.

The game won't change only the name it's not that bad..

One, Fizzer should take it as a compliment that so many care so passionately about WarLight and being a part of the community.

Second, I don't think Fizzer should just ignore the community, but he's not beholden to us, either.

Third, Fizzer why don't you do a website survey with different name options that we can vote on? You of course wouldn't be bound to go with whatever wins but at least it'd give you a sense of what the community thinks.

I get changing the name. Warlight implies a nuetered version (light implies lessor version). Warzone might not be my first choice but sometimes better names might be taken. This does not bother me in any way. I care about the game not the name.

Something with strategy or tactics in it like lolo suggested might sound less generic, but whatever
