Custom Maps, Mods, and Scenarios allow for warzone to be a versatile map gaming tool bar none. Custom scenarios, for many of us, are the heart and soul of Warzone.

I recommend brainstorming some ideas of what mods could be used in this manner, since I don't really see what they could do that would be that useful. Is it just about making custom scenarios easier? If so maybe it should just be built in? Why does it need mods?

There are some improvements coming to custom scenarios in 5.24

it is really difficult to make a good and efficient mod to enhance custom scenarios. Take the Structures Distribution mod for example, the way you allow the mod to add structures is quite awkward and completely different than any other mod / setting in Warzone.

One thing that is missing currently is that scenarios can only gives certain territories commanders, no other units while we have a lot of custom units available now. scenarios can be some much better if mods had a way to place structures or special units on territories in the custom scenario builder.

For example, I just finished the Dragons mod. The GoT community would love to give certain slots a Dragons, and others not.

Another example is for a mod I've planned (suggested by old yeller) for variable k/d rates on a territory basis.

It would be great if those killrates could be set in the scenario builder, cause I was currently planning to work around it by making a separate UI mod for SP that could be used to generate a configuration string that would be copied into the MP game.

currently the dragons mod does allow players to add dragons on pre-determined territories, but the way we must do this as mod creators is hard and time consuming.

the hard part is that mods only knows the map details once the game has been created, and only allows interaction with the map again when the game has started. in case of custom scenarios, you want to have the scenario completed and shown in the settings page when the game has been created. so to let the mod know the map details and allow the game creator to interact with the map, we either need to wait for the distribution / first turn (which then the game creator can make it really unfair, since everyone already got their starting positions), or let the game creator host a game in S, generate some sort of data transfer between the SP and MP game (that is what my mods use currently, but you need to generate and unpack the data which isn't easy and not done quickly)

From my perspective as a Custom Scenario designer, especially one that uses a lot of mods; this change would be a huge benefit. (Also, exciting to hear about patch 5.24)

I think making this change will unlock a lot of creative potential for me. This would make usable for custom scenarios a lot of cool map features that kind of fall flat. For example using JK's local kill ratio idea, you could set up the entrances of city gates or walls to have a higher ratio, without needing to inflate the player's potential offensive ability from just moving extra starting troops.

After my Crash Test Dummy series of tests is finished, we no longer need be concerned about mod compatibility, (crashes) regardless of combination of mods used.

Create scenarios with confidence and efficiency. The Custom Scenario Builder will help us do that.

In case you're interested, b.o.l.o for test games. I'll be mashing up mods for compatibility testing in the days and weeks ahead.

They will be played on medium - large maps. 12 seats minimum.

Thanks to Dutch, provided instructions for the Structures Distribution mod is getting much easier to use. A little awkward at first but you get used it.

Everyday is one closer to launch day. So far things are stable. One or two more tests and the AA/RPG format will be ready.
