Are you playing it on pc browser?

With auto conquer, if you have many terrritories under the threshold for capturing them, auto conquer targets the strongest territory within the threshold. is this similar to your experience, TMG, or are they actually not getting recaptured whatsoever?

Mathematician: Yes, on a PC browser.

Splat: They're just not being reconquered. I had 150M armies and a 30% auto-conquer threshold, but territories of 315K weren't being retaken...

When joining battles from PC, I also could observe strange effects like piling up armies (into the billions) and no territories are taken (although way below the threashold).
For me, the simple reason was lag and, btw, the problem was even significantly worse in challenge levels.

Now, I am joining battles and challenges only via the app or the standalone client (if you are member), and never again had similar issues.

But other people had better performance with the browser compared to the app. You have to test this out for yourself I guess.

It's normal behaviour on pc browser. You may notice similar issues as well in regular levels when you try to auto-conquer a large number of territories at the same time on pc browser. It'll take forever to conquer them all.

What happens is that pc browser does calculations too slowly. You're supposed to instantly conquer all the territories below the threshold, but it takes too much time for your browser to realize that. In battles often by the time your browser realizes that it's time to conquer those territories, you already got attacked again. When you get attacked faster than your browser's auto-conquering speed, you'll be left with a large number of unconquered territories way below your auto-conquer threshold.

It happened to me as well when I was playing on pc browser. Once I switched to using my phone app, I never encountered that issue again. Phone app and pc standalone client do those calculations much faster and execute auto advancements almost instantly.

Turning off animation also can help a little bit.

This makes me remember the WZIB that I finsihed last Place with 2b armies and 1 territory. I used SAC TW Combo, and because of it got attacked so offen that my browser didn't register every attack even untill the end of the battle. So yeah, don't play WZIB from browser

But if I don't play it from a browser, what's the alternative? The app? How does that even work?

Mobile App works great, just download it and sign in and it syncs with your browser account

i highly recommend the standalone client (https://www.warzone.com/wiki/Standalone_Client) for anything idle related, since its PC processing power on the superior code of the app, tho you do need a membership for it, so it does come at a cost

No, one or the other.

The mobile apps are completely free, only the standalone client (PC app) requires a membership.

EDIT:
Alternatively, you could also use something like Bluestacks or another emulator to get the mobile app on your PC.
