Surrendering is always a personal opinion. It's such a dumb and idiotic thing to still play in a won game while your opponent has only 1 territory. When he doesn't surrender, you must always finish it

What's missing on this conversation was the VTE v. Surrender Option.

VTE just erases the game whereas Surrendering takes one player out of the game. It makes no sense for this to be the choice.

Also not considered is the Boot/Surrender option, especially as it goes to AI's taking over or not.

But it's even more dumb to not finish the game as the stronger player and get very annoyed by it.

Always finish that kind of games, otherwise you're wasting your own time while you have clearly won

If you think they're cheating just play until you have 1 territory left then surrender. They are cheating. They see your moves. This is unfair. Waste their time.

Within the scope of the game, yes. In the bigger picture, this is time well invested because surrender norms are more or less essential to this game.

How would they cheat? This game is pretty cheat-proof except for collusion & ladder manipulation/etc.

Surrendering just shows that you don't try unless you are really losing. I played since 2011 and it's always the best to try your best.

So bad that Fizzer made an annoying version of the surrender tutorial.

I don't think you are accurate. I suspect many people care. The person who was in the lead before your surrender but suddenly isn't b/c your neighbour gains your lands for free and now jumps to the lead almost always 'cares' about your surrender. Not complaining != doesn't care. It is indeed annoying when the whole dynamic of an FFA changes b/c 1 person surrenders. Even worse when someone gifts their territories to your enemy and then surrenders, or just decides to randomly help 1 player win and then surrender, etc.

But it is an FFA after all, sooooo anything goes. Nice/mean/slimy/deceit/gentleman tactics are all in play. Whiners will whine, many will cry Unfair ... but so is life in an FFA.

Some people surrender prematurely in 1v1s.
There’s still lots of options for my opponent in https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=32209200. Could break my bonus or get a bonus for themselves. It’s impossible for me to prevent both threats. I had an advantage but it’s not game deciding.
Another is https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=32204438. Opponent can break up to 2 of my bonuses. The light fog and army cap sometimes shows the wrong income (usually much higher) under the players tabs so that can cause surrendering on misleading information, still many options though.

I’d say only surrender if you’re lost but not when you’re starting to lose. There’s a chance of coming back.

The second one is over too, but as things can go wildly on Bork, I would understand it if someone plays on. As for the first game link, it's so over that I would find playing on from there pretty much offensive.
