I voted for Obama the first time he ran. Big mistake!! I beleived his vague promises of change. We all wanted change, no more endless wars, Universal health care, no more bank bail outs. What a bunch of shit we got instead. Same ol' shit, endless wars, health insurance for my family= $800.00 a month, for the Illegals I work with, free of cost but bad care. General Electirc Corp. making Trillions supplying both sides in our wars and paying no taxes? I voted Lib. Party last election along with 3% of the other voters. Honestly, things could be worse here in America. We could be in North Korea/China/India/Greece/Spain/DRC/Rwanda etc. 's positions. It's good that you want to protest though ; what matters in fighting is spirit and knowledge. Also, why do you think those illegals came here? Annual death ratio in Honduras is about .1% of the entire population killed by murder every year. You can't blame them for wanting to stay away from all the drug warfare and poverty. Besides, if you listened to something Obama recently ordered, you'd know these immigrant have to meet certain qualifications to stay here now. You can sum them all up as " if you help society, you can stay ". That brings up another point. Hispanics have usually got by only by the worst jobs. Jobs that Americans aren't as willing to do. Also ; I think voting anything other than Republican/Democrat is a waste. Not enough people care about them or even get informed of other parties, so they will certainly not win the elections. If only we weren't stuck with this crummy electoral college and didn't have these useless political parties, then our full attention would be the people.

The difference is that the UK is parliamentary, while the US is presidential.

In a presidential election, voting for a candidate that has no chance of winning is completely symbolic - it has no practical impact on the election other than keeping you from voting for the major part candidate you prefer (or despise the last).

In a parliamentary system, you can at least hope that the party you support gets some seats in Parliament and has the ability to impact legislation there. This enables them to possibly build upon past successes, and is why you are able to have many (or at least several) relevant political parties.

My comment was aimed not at the individual, but at the populous. It's shameful how the most advanced country in the world allows itself to be run by a two party dictatorship.

@Goatfinger, UKIP is doing it for me. I'm not fully British and i don't think everything UKIP says is gospel but for me they're the only party who are willing to commit fully to getting us out of the ridiculous European Union. It's clear they have support on that issue (look at the Euro elections!) and anyone who reads can see the rubbish the Union is coming out with. An ideal situation would be a fairly weak UKIP with enough votes to force a coalition (I think and hope the spineless Lib Dems will flop and won't be an option). Labour are deluded so it'd be the Consertives I'd want to gain power, though I'd definitely want them forced to commit to a referendum on the EU by UKIP. I don't know enough about the Greens to fully comment on them, though what I will say is I don't agree on the extensive spending on green energy while other major countries don't have to.
