hey so im gonna drop out after this season

I would prefer the first format just because of all the talent in the new groups. I'd like to see the winners (who will definitely not include me) be promoted higher and have a chance against better competition. With all the new players I feel like the league is a bit bottom-heavy.

...Of course I reply without thinking things all the way through. 3 up and 3 down is exactly the mobility I think the league needs. And maybe the new groups are too small to accurately gauge new talent. So maybe the second option is better after all. :P

Maybe a other way for promotion with 8 players each group will be:
A. aaaaabbc
B. aabbbccd
C. abbccdde
D. bccddeef

And than so till the last groups are coming.

If you don't have enough participants at the beginning of next season you can invite me so let say that you can put me on the reserve list

I prefer your first method. Increasing group size would create even more issues if other people drop off.

I'll play either way though unless it gets stagnant (just playing same people all the time)

Some notable performances to report already:

Dreuj, Marechal Lannes and Widzisz have each completed and won their respective groups (B, G, H2) entirely undefeated!

Based on the little feedback received (both here and otherwise), I think we carry on with groups of 7 for now. Clifford, thanks for letting us know! I'll do an adjusted promotion pattern a bit later in case others notify us of quitting.

There will be room for anyone who wishes to join season 9 - it is likely to be a few weeks yet.

Sort of off topic, but are you taking the team ones back over Clifford? Lolowut quit Warlight (probably will be back eventually, but who knows?).
