Dear Arrow838, as your short term memory continues to ellude you I think adding some context to the discussion might be helpful. I was discussing the validity of your claim:

The only relevant sub-set of players to evaluate where players in Clan League Div A, as you were comparing to the skill of many people from GG to the AVERAGE DIV A PLAYER.

Chosing the correct metric can be difficult, but since your statement was so direct it became easier: The core of the question was how GG players fared in Clan League Div A, and consequently Clan League Div A performance became the most relevant metric. As for beating PS, how is that relevant to this discussion. I would rather have the EQ of a master than the IQ of someone from Excel.

Ah, so using your "skill" as a blunt instrument to try to prove that someone's argument is invalid. Classic.

SE isn't a great choice for Clan League because a single game isn't enough to decently gauge skill+motivation. You need a large game set to get an idea who has more skill+motivation on the template. For clan league, you want a template where a single game between two players is enough to reasonably ascertain that skill+motivation is a much larger factor than luck in determining who wins.

Ralph, your analytical framework is excellent.

However, surely what matters is Div A performance across all Clan League seasons? Even if a player is currently retired it's reasonable to call them "WAY BETTER THAN AVERAGE DIV A PLAYER" if they've have proven that in previous seasons. For example, Mr T. went 6-0 in Guiroma in CL12 I think.

So, I look forward to you delivering the fully comprehensive stats across all 14 seasons.

Also, I think Jake and JV deserve a special dispensation for winning a seasonal. Perhaps Flying Bender also deserves that as he too came close several times while also winning most of the ladder trophies.
