Activision is clearly and undeniably breaking the law by claiming the trademark is theirs, even though CODWZ was released in 2020 and Warzone (Risk)/Warlight in 2008, all while the trademark should be yours. They may be popular (and I love one of their games), but don't get the wrong idea, if they're breaking the law AND framing you for trademark infringement that you got originally, then that's it, I'm supporting you. It's your only income and you've worked on this for 12 years straight, why should I let all your hard work go to waste? I need you, Fizzer, you made my favorite game, and I won't give up on it. I don't have the money, but you have both my support and my condolences. Good luck in the years ahead, Fizzer!

If Activision wants the name "Warzone", will we get this game named "Call of Duty"?

one question whose answer is likely to be greed:
why is activision caring this much when by next year they will release a new cod, making codwz obsolete, depopulated, ergo this entire thing ending as a moot point?

I contacted Fizzer a couple years ago with the idea to implement a system that would give players a way to play for cash against each other and that would help to grow the game. He asked me how I would do it. I wrote in detail a system down, he ignored my message after that and 6~ weeks later Coins were implemented into Warlight.I asked him in his Twitich Questions and Answering Session how he came up the idea for the coins and he answered with " just by myself" lol

So you gonna share a screenshot of this interaction or should we take your word for it?

Besides, in game currency wasn’t a revolutionary idea at the time when coins were introduced. Even if you influenced him in some way, you didn’t invent the concept of in game purchases for a free to play game.

EDIT: Also, coins were around before your account was even made.

@Tim
Is this relevant to the Activision topic at hand? Not sure why you chose this particular time and this particular thread to post this info. Let's assume what you say is true, you gave him an idea, he either used it or built on it, implemented it, didn't credit you for it. Now what? What is the next step? Are you asking for recognition, compensation, suggesting that b/c this happened that this has some indication regarding his proceedings with Activision...?

Also agree with Cursona, in-game currency is not a new concept, it's been done on many games and platforms long before WZ got it, and I would be shocked if Fizzer hadn't already considered it before you suggested it. No doubt many people suggest game features that he's already considered, and implementing them doesn't necessarily mean that he implemented that person's idea.

Let's test the theory ... I recommend that you respond to this thread. Now if you actually do, is it because I said you should or was it of your own volition? Or both? Or does it even matter?

I think most are missing the point here. It hardly matters who started what and on the surface Fizzer's actions have been reactionary... i.e. Filing the trademark AFTER Activision filed to trademark "Warzone". That was the clear and correct reaction. Not sure why everyone is hating on Fizzer for trying to get a few pennies from a multi-billion dollar corporation either. That too is the clear and correct reaction. Generating public support is the big thing here and I would not be surprised if some big gun lawyers jump in on the chance to

get some Activision loot boxes on Fizzer's behalf.

On a side note if you win this Fizzer how about granting lifetime membership to those who donated to your legal defense... *cough cough*

"Warzone.com’s initial assertion for blocking Activision’s trademark was that the name caused significant confusion between Activision’s Call of Duty game and the Warzone strategy game. However, Activision claims in its complaint that the games are so different that confusion seems unlikely, or even impossible."

I can attest that I fell into this exact confusion last year. A friend messaged me asking if I played warzone, and I replied, "yes, I do." of course I thought he was talking out warzone.com, and didn't know Call of Duty: Warzone existed. I figured out the confusion about 3 weeks later haha.

This warzone is much better than the xbox version!

Activision's lawsuit hinges on their statement: "it is inconceivable that any member of the public could confuse the two products"
