I wanted to start making more large entry fee coin tournaments but then I realized there is no cap on tournament creation cost, and it scales as a percentage of the prize pool.

Basically any large coin tournament I create I have to pay double entry fee. I mailed fizzer and he said tournaments were to “give back to the community” not to profit. I’m not trying to profit. I’ve spent plenty of money supporting Warzone because I enjoy the game. But if I want to make say a 500 coin tournament for 16 players, it costs me nearly 1050 coins to both create and enter. Well I won’t be doing that obviously..

If I create a tournament, this creates tax for fizzer but getting other people to join and this pay an entry fee tax. If I don’t make a tournament, no tax. So fizzer is basically willing to forgo 15 entry fees to get one extra. That doesn’t seem to benefit the community, only fizzer

I suggest a benefit of membership should be free entry into coin tournaments that you create yourself. I would like to hear others thoughts. I’m sure this is not news to many of you but having just stumbled upon this greedy cash grab I feel compelled to both complain publicly, stop making tournaments, and cancel my membership until the problem is resolved, if ever

A big ask. But for fear of punishment I will not comment.

creating a tournament is no big deal that you should then get in for free
you don't have to add to the coin pool so don't and just pay the entry fee and done

Not entry fee but creation costs can be lowered by any percentage to members..
That would support people to buy membership..

i support this, there would most definitely be more coin tournaments with (higher) entry fee if this would be changed. fizzer should imo just take some more coins from the overall pool, there it hurts absolutely noone

iirc there is a creation fee of a few %, and a 10% tax on the price pool

so drop the creation fee and put a 12% tax on the pool?

or just give members free tourney creation since memberships are kinda useless now, besides removing ads and images on forums?

that would be fine JK, but you pay number of players / 4 + entry fee as creation cost.

example: You make a tournament with 500 coins entry for 32 people.
You spend 32/4 + 500 = 508 creation fee.

If you want to play, you obviously gotta spend the 500 entry. So you spend 1008 in total.

And yea then there is the 10% or something on the overall pool, that could easily be 20% or whatever

now that i think of it, removing the join fee for the tourney maker would indeed be a better solution, since that prevents people from spamming out public tournaments without joining them

Yes, get rid of creation fees! They're just an annoying deterrent, especially since you can't make a public tourney without one!
It's especially annoying with recruitment tourneys - the fact they have a forced coin prize means half the people that join at just there for the coins and not actually interested in joining at all. If public tournaments could be made without a forced coin prize, these tournaments would function much better.

Just make an unofficial rule that winner of your tourny must create another.
I am pretty sure that most of high coin community would follow it.

Warzone had this. It didn't work. We had a large number of spammy public tournaments that would never start. The forcing of coin mechanisms in public tournaments happened in response, to keep the public tournaments down to a manageable number and ensure that most/all of them would actually start.

Just ask Fizzer if it would be possible to buy clan ads for coins.
Claim that it will help connect idle and classic Warzone, then it should pass.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I’ve always put up with the idea for coin creation costs for tournaments, if anything it justifies the point multiplier for tournament games.

I just think there’s a lot of ways to incentivize more coin circulation with some changes to these types of transactions.

You could leave everything the same but just cap/determine creation cost based on the size of the player pool and nothing else. I don’t mind paying 550 coins for a 500 coin tournament, assuming some sort of cap per creating a tournament, around 50 coins

I think if there were a 50 coin cap that you would have seen many high coin prize tournaments for years now. Many players are willing to join tournaments for 200-500 coins, they fill pretty quickly in small fields.
