Most warlight threads are pointless. This one is meant to cause clan arguments I think (and it has scuceeded).

Yeah the clan league already ranks clans. But it doesn't reward depth and can't compare clans in different divisions. For instance, saying WG is the best clan right now just because they won the clan league seems very silly. Apex added 2 top players (Timi and Piggy), and 20 never had the chance to play WG in the clan league last season.

Maybe it's not my place to argue here, but i kinda stumbled upon this thread and read Normans post. Then i read JSA...so i have to reply. Saying clan league doesn't matter because it doesn't reward depth is like says Olympic games don't matter because they are one time event, it's like saying that Germany is not world champion because Argentina may have beaten them in a second game.......if leagues don't matter then there wouldn't be sports, it's all about functioning at the right time under pressure....I don't mean to offend anyone but that's just excuses. I don't follow any league here but if WG won the clan league...well they are the best clan. Sorry guys better luck next year.

I agree with you slightly Incaman. Yes performing under pressure and winning the tournament should mean your the best a t that given moment however lets say a new country is formed...... Where do they get scaled? They have starting playing, and are quickly rising the rankings, many people believe they are #1 (which I do) are they discredited because they have only just now joined the league?

Replace every game with a best of 7. then the winner is much more confidently the best, until then the winner is often just the person who got the luckiest when it mattered the most.

The first season of the clan league, p beat apex. Did that make p the better clan? Hell no. P simply performed better in one league(apex got booted). Last clan league, I believe apex also got booted in a few games. Combine that with the fact that their two new players are their best two, and they're a completely different clan. All the clan league last season told us is wg performed better than apex and wm in it, and also proved to the community that wg can compete with and even beat the top few clans. One higher finish doesn't suddenly make them better. Was militarymaniac the best strategic 1v1 player when he was ranked #1? Was wg the best clan when they finished the clan league ranked #1? Those questions are pretty much the same. Just taking #1 doesn't make you a really good player, but if you also win major tournaments, take other #1's, perform well in leagues, etc., then we could say you are a really good player. Same with wg. Don't get me wrong, I like wg, and at the very least, I would rank them #4. But to say they are the best clan because of one finish in which 20 didn't even compete in is silly.

Like i said i don't follow the leagues here. Often a leagues are played as round-robin, but if it was a single-elimination then i guess there is more luck involved. However that doesn't take away from WGs' accomplishment does it. Best of 7? played in one day or during a week or a month. By your argument i could just say the loser was having a bad day, or a bad week or that in best of 10 they would win and that the competition didn't matter. Don't try to sound like a sore loser (didn't even know if you participated) or maybe a jealousy is at work here. Give the guys some credit for what they accomplished.

Now that's a much better argument :D. In the end did WG boot apex? did they make 20 not participate? ( i have no idea who militaryman is by the way :D )

Now i do agree with all of you on many points considering competitions and their format and that you have to be overall good not just in one competition ( not with you Good Kid you always offer the worst arguments ;) ). But saying their victory didn't matter is not right.
