What's a team leader?

Someone who is a clan manager so to speak.

They have the ability to send a team message, close the team, kick members and edit the team page/entry requirements (I left it open).

Thankfully 960 is a variant on lichess. So sure, that is an option if you want

His reasoning is that in warzone we also play boards that are different for every game

What's the point of a chess team?

It's similar to a warzone clan.

Sure I’ll join. I do play occasionally in down time and on stream for follower goals.

I am a terrible chess player, but that team name almost got me playing... 😉

It warms my heart when warlight people stick together even outside of warlight :)

It just shows a strong community spirit, the opposite of some toxic communities like in League of Legends.
