as far as i know you can only have 40 players in a game

I don't think the game will ever be able to handle it. I have fast internet and large maps (for 20+ players) already take long to load. All 150 players need really quick internet to even be able to load a map big a enough for 150 players. Also I can't imagine 150 players joining the same game.

You can have 50 players. Was a game that Fizzer made as a special event. I don't see why you can't have 1000 players for that matter. The real issue is giving each player a unique and distinctive color. In the 50 player game, all colors at the time was used and some of them where really similar.

I can see it being done as a special event, but for player made games, 40 players seems to be a good max amount. Also, keep in mind the game has to work on phones.

The game could handle it fine, and it is something I want to do some day, so yes, it will likely happen eventually. It's just not the current top priority.

I came here to shit on OP for the absolutely dumb idea, instead found Fizzer saying it's in his roadmap... What the legitimate fuck.

Imagine trying to run a 100 player game though. Aside from using a huge map and taking a long time, the boot hell is real.

I'm sure there are 100 solid diplo players out there, but finding all of them would be hell.

FFA would be your best chance at something like that, but there might not be enough distinguishable colors.

I know a ton of Diplomacy players and 100 player Diplomacy game could be arranged with team work

If, only for huge games (50+ players) , there could be a prison color for every color mixed with another every color. I am sure there would then be at least 150 colors.

Why not allow same colour players in the same game? With 100+ players, it is not possible to border everyone, so you can manually set different colours for neighbours.

Because Nemo, if you're like me and don't check player name before you PM them, and you don't check color, and you then get color confused, that would be confusing. But, like I said, that is just me

Anyway, the current amount of colors is the explanation behind 40, instead of say 30 or whatever number. A somewhat common suggestion is to add patterns to the colors, making it possible to both increase the number of options a lot and making it colorblind friendly. But yeas, clearly WZ should advertise it'self as the latest Battle Royale game :P Having games with 1000! players in them :D
