I'm much newer and less experienced than MaikMcjuggle, so i'll account myself fewer words accordingly.

Greenland was the obvious First pick, too obvious.
Then i did some analysis ...... for about three hours

I realized that if both players chose greenland first, then whomever got first pick would have an uphill battle everywhere else on the board. With so many potential counters, no other bonus was safe without a combo, and a combo of course would further sacrifice board coverage which was unacceptable

So i remembered the game from this thread and i won it

After picks where drawn i got the lucky straw on Myanmar ( i should've picked that first ) then both of us played sorta casually for the first two turns, not bothering to plan out delays and so on, but that roughly evened out anyway

On turn Four i had a decision to make: Block the Congo or gain a surefire Middle East.
I chose the middle east because it gave me surefire positional advantage no matter what angle he came from

After that the replay speaks for itself

I would like to say that I just pointed whatever to your guide when I noticed he had poor map coverage in some of his games...I'm much too terrible at this game to be offering advice :)
