Standalone Client does not work anymore: 10/21/2019 10:57:45

Hi guys,

yesterday I updated to the latest Standalone Client version. At the same time a Windows update was applied. (only Office as far as I know). Now the Client does not work anymore - it just shows a dark screen and thats it.

I have tried to roll back to a previous version (tried both win32 and win64), but both have the same issue.

Does anyone else have the same problem or knows a way around?

App v4.20.3 x86 seems to work fine for me with Windows v1903 build 18362.418 x86.

Latest standalone version worked fine for me as well. Not sure what your issue could be.
Going to update to latest win version and will edit if that makes the standalone stop working.

EDIT: Works fine for me after the windows update too.

In order of recommendations:
Restart your device
Uninstall and reinstall the standalone client
Run anti-virus scan, remove any detections
Dismantle your device and give it a clean, especially the RAM slots. (A strand of hair there can prevent a computer from booting; I've seen that happen). Put device back together afterwards and try to use standalone.
Disk may be fragmented, search defrag and click Optimise. Should improve speed, but not necessary getting applications to work correctly.
Disk might have bad sectors - see https://www.disk-partition.com/windows-10/bad-sector-repair-windows-10.html

sfc /scannow
chkdsk c: /f /r (fix errors and recover data as possible)
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

If none of the above work, install and reinstall Windows.

You need to extract the zip file to a folder, then run it from there.

I forgot to mention - I do work in IT and know the basics :)
so I did
- restart my pc
- checked for additional updates
- rolled back the latest windows update
- tried different versions of the client - nothing seems to work :(
- oh and: obviously I extracted the client - have been using it ever since the standalone was published - never had any issues


I noticed one additional thing... usually when I start the client - it goes into full-screen-mode immediately without any option to play in "window-mode". Now when I start the client, it starts in window mode only. Not sure why...

Here are my suggestions:

1. Try pressing Alt+Enter while the app is open. This is the hotkey for switching between windowed and fullscreen, does that do anything?
2. Close the app, open regedit and delete HKCU/Software/Warzone. Re-start the app and see if it's fixed.
3. Make sure your GPU drivers are up-to-date.
4. If still no luck, email me the log file at %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Warzone.com, LLC_\Warzone\output_log.txt

Can you give a screenshot/video of it not working?
Can you also describe how to reproduce it not working?

Hi Fizzer,

thanks for your help.
full-screen or not did not change anything. I just mentioned it cause it might have pointed to some issue.

I deleted the regedit keys and also updated my GPU-Driver. Not sure which of the steps was the one that helped, but now it works again.
