She has no real experience. Not running a business, not being a politician. Maybe she is a good person, but I think it would be unwise to hand arguably the most powerful job on the planet to someone who began building their resume 4 months ago. Maybe she can give it a go around in a few election cycles though, after America knows what she is really all about!

Unlikely Trump wins. He still has an approval rating of 42%, and disapproval rating of 52%.

That's a more positive outlook than he has in say, 2017, but he's still one of the most disliked presidents in US history.

Only way I see him having a chance is if he runs against Warren, and even then she'd only lose on the simple basis of being female.

Note, I am not saying a woman cannot make a good president. I am saying a woman does not make a strong candidate due to the amount of people that will not vote for someone strictly because they are female.

@Joey I was more asking about why AOC should be "cancelled" already, since she's so new. she's too young to even stand for president, so of course she can't stand in this (or even the next) election, that's not the question. also on her being a socialist, she doesn't seem to support abolishing private property (afaik), she seems much more in line with the progressive taxation / social democratic model, so I don't see how any of her positions (aside from maybe abolishing ICE) could put her out of the running.

@OxTheAutist I am sorry if we had a misunderstanding, I guess I am not sure what you mean by 'cancelled'. What I was trying to get at is that we know nothing about her, she has no track record, she hasn't really done anything other than soak up media attention. Hell, check out her "Issues" page on her website(https://ocasio-cortez.house.gov/issues/economy), she hasn't even filled it in, the issues are empty. I thought that is enough to disqualify someone from being President. Otherwise that would similar to asking, "Whats wrong with The Joey [being president]?"

As for the socialism bit. I mean yeah, I am not sure how to respond. From a pragmatic view, I don't think the US would elect a self described socialist yet. Bernie was the strongest self proclaimed socialist candidate ever, with a long and clean track record. If he couldn't even win his parties nomination, how would Cortez? Maybe she could in a few election cycles, but certainly not in the current state of the US. Then from an economic point of view there are huge issues with any form of Socialism.

Buttigieg may well be the Dems best chance. He's charismatic and young, which helped Obama win in '08 - and I'm sure many people will be itching to elect a gay president, potentially outnumbering those who will vote against him because of it.
If Trump dies, resigns or is forced to quit, then I think that Pence would have almost no chance. If Trump goes up against hin, I think, if the economy goes on the same trajectory, the odds are 40-60 in Buttigieg's favour, with no other Dem exceeding 50% chance to win.

There are some people that would certainly vote for a woman, but you're kidding yourself if you think being a woman is an advantage. Sexism is much more a systemic part of our country than racism is. Almost any black woman will tell you she has been discriminated more in her lifetime on the basis of being a female than she has for being black.

If a white person calls a black person a nigga, or a nigger, it's seen as a major faux pas, and can end their career if they are in a position of power. Meanwhile calling a woman a bitch is much more widely tolerated and considered a trivial offense.
