FYI: Based on the advice of Math Wolf, I tweaked ratings formula again. The default mean was raised from 1500 to 2000. I also re-ran all of the games from scratch using this new formula and updated the ratings to reflect that.

Because of this, you should see rating numbers be about 500 higher than they were before. It should be far less likely to go negative now, too.

A couple of requests:

-Add to community page.
-Make it easier to Join/Leave the ladder, from App too. Clicking Community, Ladders, RT Ladder, Join is a lot to do just to play a game.
-Make it so you can only join the ladder for X games as an option. This way, if I know i only have time for 1 game, let me just join for my first match, then as soon as it starts, auto-pull from ladder. If I want to play again, then go for it.
-5 min autoboot is harsh. 5 min direct and 10 min auto may be a lot more civilized.
-Please don't have boots before joins count against. In a scenario where someone get's pulled away from the game for 10 minutes they not only automatically lose the game they were in, but they lose the next one too.

No 10 min boot please. I think FFA are also bad idea in real time. How many will be decided by boots and huge balance swings?

I think real rime ladder is great idea, but games should not be more than an hour long or have settings that make them that way. Sure, you can have RT games that are longer, but please not on a ladder or too many will be decided by boots

Please stick to 5 min boot. I prefer fast games; slow turns are for multiday.

I'm in favor of an 8 minute auto-boot, but 10 is too much!

8-minute auto-boot won't help me when I forget that I'm still in the RT ladder when I don't get a game within 10 minutes.

Aren't we supposed to start with a rating of 1500? http://warlight.net/LadderTeam?LadderTeamID=4312 I won one game and it shows I've gone down to 1403 how does that work?

5 min is perfect. not too long nor to short.

This ladder has an obvious malfunction in it.
Players on vacation cannot be booted.

Also some players still seem to be starting with a rating of 0. (unless the ones with 1500 are wrong now?)

Is there a way of seeing which of the people in the "Players Currently Joined" list are currently playing a game? Sometimes it seems like it takes forever to be joined to a game, even when there's like 5 other people online.

Just click on their names, and see who they are playing against currently. If there are 5 people in the ladder, a game will be made straight-away as only even numbers of players can be in games at 1 time, but if not just check everyone.

There may be people playing that had since left the ladder though.

Also, probably, due to the fact that you have played some of them before. I heard it was 20 hours or so before you can replay someone. I haven't checked, though.

Maybe a toggle button on My Games, Join/Leave Real-Time Ladder.

Also, 5 min Direct, 10 min auto... that doesn't mean people can't boot at 5 min, just allows for flexibility.

Don't confuse the mean and the rating.
Rating = Mean - 3*Standard Deviation, that explains all.

Your mean starts now at 2000 (see Fizzer's post, 2nd post on this page), your standard deviation at 500 and your rating at 500 (2000-3*500). Both your mean and rating increased after your win (the standard deviation mostly decreases after the first 100 or so games).

Your mean is 2169.94 (higher than the start of 2000) and the standard deviation 230.81. Consequently, your rating equals 1478 (2169.94 - 3*230.81 and rounded). Both are higher than the starts (2000 for the mean, 500 for the rating)

Math Wolf, if you look in the games under the message from host it say players have a rating of 0 . For example in the game Cro posted. I don't know if this is reflected elsewhere tough.
