Maybe because it's a problem. :/

Think about how many people are mainly open-game players. All these people are asking for is a solution.

The solution is to stop beating the dead horse that is diplomacy, and join the strategic community. Of course, that would mean actually playing games without getting booted.

You see people simply dont want to play with guys like you with high boot rates.

I see this a lot actually. 95% of the time when people tell me there aren't enough players or the community is dying, I look at their profile and they have a high boot rate.

Clearly it's not that the community is dying, it's that everyone avoids playing with them, but they don't realize it. The actual numbers show that the community is stronger than it has ever been.

I plan on making some improvements to the boot issue.

I have no clue what this thread is about.

1. Diplo is dead? No it isn't, there's exactly 16 multi-day open diplo/ffa/rp games atm. We don't need more, if anything we need less so that they fill faster.
2. Warzone is dead? No it isn't, the numbers say exactly the opposite. Also, diplo is dead=warzone is dead? That's a bold leap of logic.
3. Real-time diplo is dead? Yes it is, because players, especially new ones, choose QM if they want to play RT. But how is advertizing warzone going to help with this issue?

As someone who looks to recruit players, considering I recruit decent players who are active which isn't the most strictest requirement. I struggle to find these players to recruit to a clan of 27 members.

If the community was stronger than ever, there should be a explosion in terms of players joining clans.

I just don't feel it that's all, not saying the community is dying but it feels down from what it was 2 years ago.

cause the community is not stronger than ever.

increased number of games due to qm doesn't correlate with a stronger community. most qm players are casual, they play 1-2 qm games a day and return the next day to do the same. they don't participate in clans, forum, talking with other players and stuff of these kind that help make the community stronger.

qm has been the best thing that fizzer has done on wz for attracting new kids to play and make more money, but it has drained open games and skyrocketed the number of casuals through the roof.

the only community left on wz today is the strat one. diplo and ww2 are dead. and my boot rate has always been under 5% so that's not the problem.

2 years ago, there were tens of rt diplos hosted at a time and none of those had boot prerequisites. today, you can barely find rt diplos and 0 ww2 games at all

ofc having a lower boot rate helps, but that has never been a deal breaker in joining a game. mainly the "elitists" host low boot rate games.

I have no boot rate seetings or level requirements when I make open games. But on most Saturday nights there is only like 8-10 open games. 3 of them always auto games. And then even with random teams and only 6 slots. The games take 35 minutes to fill. I’m my opinion it really feels like QuickMatch is killing open games. I would love to see the stats to prove me wrong. :(

cursona is right.

qm even killed the rt ladder. people are getting trophies there by booting games. if the community is stronger than ever, how do you explain that?

Please Fiz if you really care about this game and the people that play it, or played it. SPEND A LITTLE MONEY. Get this game out there on game websites.

Dumbest thing I've seen on this site in a while. Fizzer's primary (and possibly only) source of income is this game, so obviously he cares about it.

I plan on making some improvements to the boot issue.

Sounds incredible.

Yeah that's another good point. One thing I've noticed is that if you look at all of the better clans, almost every member is a player who's been around for at least a couple of years. Where are all of the newer talents jumping in adding life to clans? It's an unfortunate situation and every clan league we're just going to continue watching the same people fighting, and clans will more easily 'die out' as a result.

But I know this sounds kinda whiny to some people. I know some people see these opinions and think "Just deal with it." or "Nothing can be done, so stop whining". Obviously the community isn't perfect, but some of just wish to see more new members showing up to enrich the strat community, open games, etc. If it can't happen then it can't happen, and it's alright. It's not unreasonable to want some change, it seems like a more polarizing position than it should be.

On the community dieing...

Everybody moved to discord. Even Norman is trying to move over to Discord and he would rather use Skype than Discord.

I am sure that if you looked at forum activity every year without the statistics from the off-topic forum and spam posts you would see a decline but only because Discord is eating it. And that is a better business model for Fizzer anyways because then Discord has to pay for that server space and not him. (Or not. Idk how internets work.)

@OP I am sorry that your niche community died. I do not have found memories of real time diplos because of all the boots, really bad strategic play, and people taking your claim but I hope you can enjoy multi-day diplos or join a diplo clan

@Fizzer What about adding some link to the forums/community on the app somewhere? And from there, I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult to point people towards Discord/community events. Fostering community is pretty vital for the long-term growth of any multiplayer game.

The diplo community is still active, especially within Hellas! Warzone Evolution is just one example of the active RP we make today.

if you do have a high boot rate however just make a new account as the only thing you would need to do this is a new gmail which is also easy to do

This post was not to start a flame war guys, it should be a general discussion about the Decline in the game. YES I do know I have a high boot rate but that was from YEARS ago and I cant help that, booting was a normal thing either because rude people wanted to kick you for free land or you accepted you lost a war and left the game. Back in 13-15 when real time Diplomacy and fun games were huge and there was dozens upon dozens of games on there daily, you could always find something to have fun with. The roleplay, the pure enjoyment you got out of the game. I just don't see it anymore. I have played multiday games and it just doesn't match to how it was.

That is all I was getting at. The game has declined in the community I used to know. I do want to get involved in the new but yes, times have changed. Numbers I am sure are fine but if you played back in those years you would have noticed a significant change in how people played the game. Multiday is fine and dandy but I never was a multiday player souly for the reason that there was more passion about games in the real time area. People would come up with so many fun ideas and I miss it.

I did jump the gun on saying Fizzer didn't advertise the game and that's my bad. I'm sure he and other devs do care about this game as he even commented on this thread. He cares about feedback and his players and I am a player and I am giving my feedback, that is all.
