Hi!
I'm a relatively new player at Warlight. I've been playing private games with friends for a while, but started about a week or two ago to join Quickmatch games, a few random multiplayer games, and get more involved.
I'm remarkably terrible. I've won a few times among my friends, but usually get destroyed when taking a 1v1 and rarely outplay someone. Besides trying to practice, how can I improve? Does anybody have tips to get experience or just strategies that they find experience?

There are many more out there but these are my favorites. Especially the M'Hunters guide, written by Norman. I know this doesn't sound like the funnest way to get better, but I guarantee its the most efficient way to learn the basics of the game. GL have fun.

On the point of clans, a few questions: How do you join clans? I read up on how to make one, but do you have to be invited to join one? Also, what's the benefit of being in one besides private forums?
I'll try diplo games, I've wanted to try them, but I'm scared I'm gonna f* up and then have people be mad at me. Thanks for the readings, I'll get on them ASAP. Don't mind it being a less fun way, anything that'll help me improve is great.

Yes, you have to be invited. You probably have to mail whoever they say on the clan page. https://www.warzone.com/Clans/?ID=141
I mean you get an icon next to your name :P But there are no direct benefits, apart from clan members to play with and playing in Clan League etc. Oh and a forum as you said.

For diplo/rp games, it's good to join a clan, to avoid boot's rage-quits etc. Not sure what diplo clan is hip atm thu.

Join Hellas, we do diplos, roleplaying, map making, and history.

Watch competitive games(I suggest MDL, 1v1 ladder, and CL games) and identify these things:

1. Superiority from pick stage. Who had it? Why?

2. Turning point of the game. Not just from pick stage, but at what point of the game could the loser have known the winner's moveset and still not won?

3. Most effective expansion path from either pickset

4. If it's team games at what value would you place each area being fought over, and what value did the players place each area at.

If you think about these things a lot of it becomes second nature.
