Why not lower the 1v1 ladder entry to 43?

Why not put the RTL in the app. You could even do a "ranked" checkbox if you want.

There's no QM trophy, and rightly so, because the ratings are geared heavily around activity. But eligibility to compete for some new replacement for the RTL trophy, gained by playing real time QM games, could unlock at level 43.

There are lots of different ways that this could done.

The RT ladder is indeed very out-dated compared to Quickmatch. To remove it though, we'd have to find something else to unlock at level 43 otherwise that level would lack an unlock.

How about combining QM and rt-ladder?

I mean you could apply the rt-ladder-system, if someone clicks a box (which is available at level 43).

There is a very easy fix to RTL that doesn't involve moderation or even modifying some (less than ideal) templates. Simply reset the ladder ratings annually.

Current problems with the RTL that would be solved with an annual reset:

• No more inflated "grandfathered" ratings occupying the top spot. Consequently,
  
• Ratings would all be within the same range once again, so all players have an equal chance to compete for top spots
  
• Ladder deflation once ratings have settled will not be as drastic as it is now (a product of multiple years of the same people playing against each other and lowering the collective average rating)

With these fixes in place, the ladder is almost guaranteed to become active and competitive again. And it doesn't require any oversight whatsoever.

The only drawback I see with this system is that the ladder would basically be dead around early- to mid-December. But a month's worth of ladder inactivity is certainly far better than a perpetually dead ladder.

Also, QM and RTL should never be combined. The RTL is a (formerly) legitimate ladder. QM is just an activity chart. The fact that you can veto unlimited templates to play only a couple templates you're strong at is enough justification to not combine the two and form a ladder around that.

It would need to be more sophisticated than what krunx wrote, but those problems with RTL based on QM games could easily be surmounted (e.g. different rating system from QM itself; must have >=N templates checked to join RTL).

It needs plenty of thought, though, because there are bound to be other issues.

tbh the real time ladder is great if you're a robot who can commit at any time of the day to capitalize on boots

LOL, my next game was completely rigged for me. Just seems stupid. I realize you don't want an overwhelming template to start with, but it doesn't have to be first turn bonus for free. It could at least require an army to stand guard or reduce income by 1 to prevent that.

For me I loved the RT Ladder, It was competitive and you had a trophy to fight for!

Yes, the templates sucked, but my opinion was the quick match template making system should've been implemented into the ladder. To get the RT Ladder popular!

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of quick match for the common player and the idea of getting the public games going, but surely the true competitive element of real-time games has to be taken care of. The ladder shouldn't die.

+1 Platinum. It's still my favorite ladder since it doesn't require me to devote a ton of time to it.

Also quit whining Chris. You don't have to play many of those, and it's good for new players.

I still have to win another 4 before I unlock the next template (hope that one is at least strategic in nature).

It isn't really whining, I asked a legit question. Why do we have THAT template first? Fizzer should reduce the income by 1 or something so that you can't get a FTB Aus or SA, without a combo. That seems pretty simple to me.
