Hello all!

I've been working on a new interface for playing Warzone through web browsers called UJS. Playing through UJS looks and feels like the Unity client, but it loads much faster since it's all javascript and doesn't actually use Unity.

For the first time, it's now possible to play the actual game through UJS! It's still experimental, so please let me know if you run into any bugs!

To test it out, visit https://www.warzone.com/ChangeWebMode and check UJS.

This is intended for playing from computers. Playing from a mobile device should work in theory, but you're likely better off sticking to the app.

Just a couple observations.

- Some map backgrounds seem more brownish than black.
- Looks like the numbers for armies and bonuses are slightly larger.
- The number for territory bonuses overlaps the bottom of the box instead of being centered.
- Looks like occasionally chooses a different color for army numbers than Unity (i.e. white vs black for a light/dark player color)
- Can't zoom in as far as with Unity.
- The hashmarks for fogged territories looks thicker/darker than in Unity.
- When you link a territory in chat, it shows up like " <a t_309>Territory</a>". Unlike showing the underlined name in Unity.
- Clicking links open it in the current tab, instead of a new window (i.e. view player profile, View Tournament).
- The text for team letters is wrapping, and cutting off part of the top/bottom.

PS: It loooads so fast. Like NIiiiiiiiice fast. Great! Speeeeeeed! WOhOO. Flash can't even come close to compete with the speed.

ok so here are my thoghts one the new javascript client. alright so i get that it dose not have everything done yet like the Audio (because its still being tested) which im fine with but i do like flash beter because it has slower loading times which i dont know how the javascript client will be with that(as the test was a 3 player game and if players are going to use the new javascript client then it will need to be able to load well with a 10 player realtime game and a 40 player mulitday game at least). and also sometimes the game will take a long time to load when you go to a another tab(i was unable to record this because with the recorder because when i used it would force the game to load before it would record). also i could not find the chat anywhere in the test.

but overall i do like the new javascript client but there is a few thing i would fix/add to it.

#1 fix most of the bugs with it(like the audio).

#2 i would make structured more like the flash client as an option to make it easyer for newer players comeing from flash to be able to find everything(or for players who liked how the flash client was structured) now i know this would take a lot of time to do but i think i could be done at some point in time.

anyways i would rate the javascript client(with most to all of the main bugs fixed) a 6/10 right now its a 5.5/10 with all the bugs and stuff.

Known missing features:
- Audio
- Mods (loading a game with mods will give errors)
- Tick marks underneath sliders

  • Can't create games in singleplayer or multiplayer
  • Can't view singleplayer or multiplayer templates
  • My own army numbers are white - normally they're black. White on lime doesn't look good - both are light colours
  • The boot button isn't disabled/hidden when you click on your name
  • The boot button isn't disabled when there is still time left before it is possible for you to be booted
  • It's possible for multiple players to have the same colour if you change a player's colour
  • Scrollbar doesn't have a scroller when inspecting territories when there's clearly an overflow
  • After changing the attack/transfer mode, pressing enter the first time does noting, all times after this when enter is pressed, the attack/transfer mode changes again - the attack/transfer mode should remain the same and the attack/transfer dialogue should be closed.
  • The Next game button doesn't remember which mode to play the game in - this is only an issue while UJS isn't the default mode
  • The map zooming + and - text isn't perfectly centred.
  • The back arrow doesn't work when in a game
  • Console logged the following on a multiplayer game:
    XML Parsing Error: syntax error

    Line Number 1, Column 1:

  • The bottom of the inspect and a/b armies deployed text is hidden
  • Publishing a single player community level redirects to singleplayer


It isn't possible to cheat, I've tried to. You can change the visual number of armies for territories but whenever you next click on the territory or commit, the armies change back to the 'normal' amount.

Looks like the numbers for armies and bonuses are slightly larger.

The Unity client has a feature that dynamically sizes them based on your zoom level. UJS doesn't have that feature, so the sizes will be larger/smaller depending on your zoom level.

The number for territory bonuses overlaps the bottom of the box instead of being centered.

Are you talking about bonus links? Can you send a screenshot?

In Unity they have to open in a new window since Unity is so slow to load, we don't want to un-load the app every time you click a link. UJS doesn't have this problem.

I think it's better this way, as it teaches that it is a hotkey if people are experimenting with pressing keys.

What browser? In Chrome, I see the attack/transfer mode change every time, which is the intended behavior.

---Well it looks like some of it may just be the color around the number overlapping the border. Though for both square/circles, the number seems closer to the bottom.


Similarly the border around army numbers can overlap the territory border. Looks like it can happen slightly in Unity (clipped the right of the 10), though worse in UJS (both the 0 and 2).

---Probably not, though potentially on some maps with crowded territories/borders.

It seems like the highlight when clicking on a bonus might be on a slower/different pulse than before.

And seems to be slightly more faded of a highlight, than a distinct edge. Not really sure which I prefer, though it probably isn't quite as easy to see bonus borders in UJS.

Looks really nice so far!

Small bug:

  • Trying to select multiple orders (with shift) currently opens a new browser window in chrome.
  • Sending a message in chat, will scroll the chat to the top
  • Viewing teammates orders (without clicking Player -> View Orders) doesn't seem to work yet (deployments are shown, but not attacks)

Yep. Looks like having 0% kill rates messes things up. Or well, game settings say 5%, but the analyse attack dispays 0 at the bottom as in the screenshot from earlier. Game Link https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=11107590&mode=ujs#

Just launched an update with some fixes! More still to come. Thanks so much for all the feedback.

- Autopilot now tells you why a particular bot might not be recommended for your settings.
- Fixed a bug that caused games that error to display a black screen instead of displaying the error popup.
- Fixed multi-player commerce games not loading. Thanks to Krzystof for reporting this.
- Fixed army number colors for some colors, such as lime. Thanks to Chriger for reporting this.
- Fixed the enter button not always confirming the attack/transfer dialog. Thanks to baconsizzle for reporting this.

When clicking step by step through the history of a game the move order list on the right should should scroll down / up correspondingly. Right now it doesn't move at all, so you only see deployments and maybe the first few moves

Choosing territory when playing Recon card highlights only one of neighbour territories (instead of all neighbours + selected)

Also

I usually use numpad to enter number of moving units. If i press enter too fast, the number i entered is ignored. (so for new order it takes all units instead of desired number)

New update! Thanks for all the feedback and help. Here's the changelog:

- All: The end game window's statistic for "enemy armies killed" now takes into account armies you killed on defense. Thanks to uteinamerica for reporting this.
- Website: In the account settings, you can now put your account into UJS mode which will make games load in UJS by default. UJS is still considered an experimental feature, bugs are expected. When in UJS mode, pages that don't work in UJS will load in Flash (for example: Create Game, Design Maps)
- UJS/Unity: Fixed no-luck analyze graph on games with very low kill rates. Thanks to TBest for reporting this.
- UJS: Added audio. It can be turned off using the sound button in the upper right.
- UJS: Added basic mod support. This hasn't received very much testing yet, so there are likely bugs in modded games.
- UJS: Fixed dragging the analyze slider causing the entire dialog to move along with the slider.
- UJS: Shift+clicking orders in the orders list no longer opens a new window. Thanks to Muli for reporting this.
- UJS: Fixed chat scrolling to the top when it should have been scrolling to the bottom. Thanks to Muli for reporting this.

Great update!

No real bugs, but some things that I noticed:
- it seems to me there is no way to see date and time that turn advanced when looking through history
- when writing longer messages it would be helpful if text was broken down into multiple lines instead of just having a single line
- when playing the blockade card you need to be very precise with were you grab the popup window if you need to move it (might apply to other cards as well). In most areas you're just marking text (especially in the black frame at the top)

- Edit: Also I just noticed that clicking at the top where the cards are located will open the popup for playing a card even if you haven't clicked on the card directly

-When in different tab, there is no * star in the tab name in UJS
-Clicking on the attack arrows (like, when you want to attack on a world-wrap arrow) doesn't work. You have to click the territories to attack.

Music icon is missing (idk if music plays anyway - in Flash and Unity I have it muted).
Autogame links (such as https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?AutoGameID=wlnet_S1v1RT) give a black screen (not given Flash/Unity view as they support autogame links).
When clicking on an order for the first time in any game while making orders, the order action icons are missing; only the icon borders were there initially. After a quarter of a second, the icons appear. Could you make it so that these icons are the from the start and not blink into existence when an order is clicked?

UJS is amazing!. It combines the menu system of the flash version with the gameplay of the unity version. And being able to also access the community section as well is great. It also feels much more clear than either flash or unity. In all really great job fizzer! I'm defintely switching overy from UJS after using flash for this game for literally like 7 years.

eh i will still stick with flash as even if it is dieing i still like useing it more the ujs also flash is a bit faster than ujs.

- UJS: The chat button now flashes when there is pending chat.
- UJS: The page's title is now set with a "*" in the front when it's your turn, like Flash does. Thanks for TBest for suggesting this.
- UJS: Loading spinner is now black instead of white.
