If you want Fizzer to fix the system, vote for a literally unplayable map so he's forced to.

@Taran: ikr I feel like I've outdone myself. Was a good call to step out of my Sir Nick map comfort zone.

I'm feeling good about Afroeuroasien. I think it will bring a lot to the stale complacency of bonus-based gameplay. Players will come to love it.

I'll always have a soft spot for Brother Nick... Did you know one of his maps was featured in the first ever user-created community level?

That's fair, he's just also churned out a lot of weak maps of obscure counties.

I'm not really picking on him, I just think it'd be hilarious for the lowest rated map by far to get voted MotW. I've been nominating his maps for that reason, obviously that didn't work so last week I tried something new by inflating Thessalos' map rating (so it got nominated) and then tanking it (so the lowest-rated map won) but that didn't work.

So this week I'm trying out transparency. Let's make Afroeurasien the #FixTheSystem map. Force Fizzer to pay attention to the issue by creating thousands of terrible, unplayable MotW games.

You're acting like children. Instead of nominating normal maps you go for trash and in doing so take away option for other players to nominate other maps. You're intentionally ruining the fun for other players over your subjective opinions of what is and isn't a good map. If the map is playable, has balanced bonuses, not a straight line bottleneck, it's a good map.

I have as much a right to nominate whatever map I want as you do. These slots are open for hours, so if you want to nominate a "good" map go ahead.

I don't think you're completely aware of what's going on here. Every week, all maps but the 2nd place map get permanently disqualified from being re-nominated. In terms of playable maps the selection has been crap for months because new good (and by good, I just mean objectively replayable and not broken, not even my subjective opinion at this point) maps are not being created fast enough to replenish this supply.

So if you've ever tried to nominate a map (hopefully you have, if you're hashtagging about my impinging on your right to do so), you might've noticed that it's a graveyard of decent maps that you can't nominate and for most people- both voters and nominators- we're forced to neglect maps that were promising but never got a chance (maybe they came in third place in a week with actual tough competition) and would probably beat out any map available for nomination.

Map of the Week is absolute trash in many ways, but this eligibility system is a big deal. If you're worried about being forced to put up with less desirable maps, then you should care about this- it means that everyone is being forced to put up with less desirable options right now because the desirable ones got eliminated way too early, back when all the nominees were good. What I'm doing has a twofold impact:

1. It speeds up the process of the MotW nominee field turning to shit (it's gonna happen anyway, since every week the contest loses the exact 4 maps from the eligible pool that people thought were most promising- this is just shitty design and )

2. It saves some good maps for future weeks, when otherwise they'd get nominated and place 3rd or lower => never be able to win first place. Imagine if you had a selection of 5 things every week, you get to eat 1 and the bottom 3 would never show up in that selection again. Now if you've got a finite amount of good things (let's say, candy), then if you want to get the most out of that candy you don't want that candy to keep popping up in the bottom 3 (because then you deplete 4 candies a week instead of just 1, and you don't even get to eat 3 of them). So what do you do? Throw 3 pieces of literal shit into the pool every week. You won't have to ever eat that shit, you just reject it once and it's gone- but it saves the candy for later.

I don't know if you've casually browsed the Maps side of this site, but there's lots of shit and barely any candy. We've already gone way past Peak Candy and now we're on the verge of just drowning in shit.

The second one is important. Nominating shitty maps is not just my troll protest but a legitimate way to patch the system and hopefully bring the issue to Fizzer's immediate roadmap.
